What to Pack: Summer Out West (Aspen, Jackson Hole, Etc.)

By: Jen Shoop

Aspen has a special place in my heart — I spent most summers of my childhood there and even though there is a wide world to explore, I think we are going to take the kids there next summer as our big family trip. It is spectacular in summertime. I shared all my favorite activities, restaurants, etc here. It’s probably due for a refresh — will update it next year 🙂

Anyhow, if you are heading Out West to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, sharing thoughts on what to pack! I wanted to include a special spotlight on a great wrap sweater to throw on over everything from sundresses to jeans to shorts — it’s often chilly in the mornings and evenings! Top picks:

THIS TUCKERNUCK

THIS THE GREAT

THIS TECOVAS (NEARLY SOLD OUT)

THIS KUJTEN

THIS SEZANE

THIS SPLENDID

If you want to go super splurge, check out the options at Alanui. You’re sure to gain the attention and favor of every shopgirl in the city in one of these!

Now onto my full edit for a trip Out West:

What to pack: summer trip out west collage.

CARDIGAN // EYELET BOOTS // HIKING BOOTS // WHITE JEANS // SHORTS // SCARF TOP // NECKLACE

01. Western Americana-inspired riding cardigan.

02. These cut-offs.

03. Great hiking boot option. Love the red laces.

04. I would pair this sundress with a chic brown belt.

05. If you’re doing cowboy cosplay — can’t stop thinking about these eyelet Tecovas.

06. Chic embroidered details on this skirt.

07. Silver accent leather belt (look for less: this if you prefer gold accents)

08. Liffner belted raffia tote. Something about this reads Western.

09. Ultra-flattering vertical paneling on this dress.

10. Dorsey turquoise necklace with lab diamond. (Look for less: this turquoise tennis necklace — use code JEN20 for an additional discount.)

12. These rope wrap-up sandals. The bungee detail is perfect for the setting.

13. Bandana-inspired scarf top.

14. Stunning utilitarian edge to this embroidered linen jacket and the matching a-line shorts. Love the brown!

15. The Hill House dress that took the world by storm in a on-theme bandana print.

16. These utilitarian pants are the perfect throw-on.

17. Classic Ralph Lauren denim polo. Throw on with jeans, white shorts, a full skirt!

18. What would a trip out west be without a pair of Levis? Iconic. The fit is great, too — a classic for a reason.

19. Embroidered denim mini dress — OBSESSED.

20. Boat neck one-piece bathing suit. Love the bandana vibe.

21. Effortless dress option for a warmer day.

22. This quarter zip and the matching leggings for an early morning hike.

23. This button-up to throw on over a bathing suit or tuck into white jeans.

24. Bandana one-piece (under $50!)

25. This pouch for hiking. I actually wear this running too! I always get compliments on it.

26. Breezy spaghetti strap dress for date night.

27. These boots stopped me in my tracks.

28. Love the motif on this cardigan.

29. Chambray bandana caftan.

30. Add a pop of color with this draped over the shoulders.

31. I adore the fringe trim on this belted cardi-coat.

32. This hooded windbreaker — available in a variety of colors. You’ll see a lot of chic, top-of-the-line hiking gear in these towns!

33. Canada goose zip-up fleece — perfect for an extra layer for colder mornings and evenings.
