Back to School 2026.

By: Jen Shoop

I’m sheepishly typing this out because I don’t think anyone wants to think about back to school, but I have been…! As school is around the corner for many of us. My son already selected a new backpack for himself: this bold jersey number style from State. He saw it and begged for it. He’s switching schools and I am all-in on anything that makes him excited for the school year. (I was also trying to stave off his earlier request for a Pokemon themed backpack…) While we’re talking sporty things that make seven year old boys very happy: your son will worship you for a pair of these Jordans. I got Hill a pair for Christmas and he wears them constantly. Right now, some colors/styles are on sale, but I really like the red/white/blue combo (this is what Hill has; they look adorable with striped socks like these peeking up, which is Hill’s go-to look).

SNEAKERS // SOCKS // WATER BOTTLE // LETTER STICKERS // GRADE FLAGS // COIN POUCH // BACKPACK // NAME STICKER

01. Hill’s beloved new backpack.

02. Freezable snack bags — I am SUCH a fangirl for these. They really stay cold all day long, and you just toss them in the freezer every night after you’ve emptied them out. I love them because my son really likes cottage cheese and yogurt and string cheese for snacks!

03. J.Crew chino pants — just ordered Hill a bunch of these, as they tend to run low on stock the closer we get to mid-August. I find these fit him much better than the more standard edition Lands End typically rec’d for uniforms. A slimmer fit and not as long (he’s slim, and I think he looks better when the pants don’t puddle at his feet — why are those Lands End pants soooo long?!).

04. These sneakers hold up SO well. (He’s also had this style from the same brand, currently on sale at Nordies.) While Hill loves his Jordans, these are our go-tos for school as they tend to fit school sanctioned reqs and they LAST.

05. These ice packs for lunch boxes! I got Hill the football set for this year.

06. I put these in the kids’ lunchboxes every few days. They have the sweetest little affirmations and you can leave a custom note on the back. Hill is such a sentimental guy and I discovered he saved all of his.

07. Love the contrast piping on this sweatshirt to wear with everything. Appreciate the solid colors (but not boring — never!), so they can look a little more polished than a graphic tee variation. They don’t have too many out yet, but I also really like the sweatshirts (and matching joggers — none currently in stock) that Zara puts out for boys. Such a cool / slouchy fit. Have on my radar to check back in a few weeks.

08. For your first day of school pictures.

09. Semi-waterproof name labels. Look, these don’t last the full semester after repeat washings, but they’re inexpensive and handy and I just keep slapping them on when they’ve worn down. I put them on everything — even packs of markers, sunscreen, etc!

10. My daughter begged for one of these lunch boxes. So many of the girls at her previous school carried them!

11. Camp-inspired Roller Rabbit backpack.

12. Perfect yellow rain jacket. A true $31 wonder. Great quality, with a soft striped cotton lining. We’ve owned so many of the colors over the years!

13. The best socks for kids (use code SHOOP21).

14. Personalized striped pencil case.

15. Aren’t these the cutest pencils? Fun little way to surprise your little lady on the first day of school.

16. These erasers! My daughter would flip over them.

17. These are the headphones we got our kids after my husband did a ton of research.

18. This coin pouch is perfect for snack/free-dress money.

19. Mini alphabet stickers for personalizing water bottles, pencil boxes, etc.

20. Classic Sperrys. Buy now — these do sell through closer to school start.

21. Cute gift idea for teachers. Last year, I treated the teachers to Starbucks early into the school year — going to do this again along with a little something like this.

22. This calendar for visually organizing all the kids’ after-school activities.

23. This playwall is such a cute idea.

24. Yeti water bottle — available in multiple colors but love the colorblocking.

25. Personalized back-to-school sweatshirt.

26. A pouch for whatever you need it for in your daugther’s backpack — pens/pencils, change of clothes, hairbrush, etc.

27. Memory box labels — brilliant solution for storing the kids artwork, reports, etc!

28. A cute way to store school photos.
