New Fitness Gear for 2022.

By: Jen Shoop

I have been using our new fitness bike a lot the past few weeks — it’s been so fantastic to have an alternative to running during this cold snap. Aside from a year in Chicago when I got into FlyWheel, I haven’t done much spinning/cycling, but I am really enjoying mixing it up. It’s also ultra low-commitment (i.e., if I lose steam, I’m in the house and just walk upstairs! When I go running, I *must* return way I came, no matter how much I am flagging) and I therefore find it much easier, mentally, to “go for a quick spin” downstairs. At any rate, my renewed commitment to exercising has me itching for some new gear. I recently bought a few additional cropped tanks (on sale here in a great lavender color) from Beyond Yoga (seen above) — so, so soft and comfortable but flattering and feminine. But I am mainly drawn to spring colors mixed in with pops of hot pink at the moment. Lululemon has some of my old standbys — swiftly tech tees, align leggings, and define jackets — out in some great new spring colors that are calling my name, and I have this head-to-toe look from Alo in my cart: fitness turtleneck, hoodie, and leggings. Sharing even more below…

  1. Beyond yoga has the softest pieces, but I will warn you that they tear very easily. I have 3 pairs of their leggings that each tore within 6 months of owning them. They generously replaced 2 of the pairs, but those both proceeded to tear as well. I’m talking tiny little holes, but it’s still irksome. My sisters have had the same issue and we have all resolved to stick to Lulu – which last YEARS! I am, however, considering trying out All Access, which I’ve heard great things about.

    1. Hi Louise! Thanks for the caveat on Beyond Yoga! Yikes! Haven’t yet had this issue with the cropped tanks but think I’ll avoid the leggings then…agree with you on Lululemon! Their pieces are built to last!!

  2. I finally caved and bought the navy Tory Sport leggings you have pictured in the first collage after lusting after them for a year+ … and am happy to report that I think I like them better than lululemon (?!). My entire workout wardrobe is lulu – over the years, I’ve just found their pieces hold up SO much better than anything else (most of my leggings/tanks are years old, but I try and swap out sports bras more regularly… only adding a piece or two every 10 months or so). I work out pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day, so quality matters to me! That being said, the Tory Sport leggings are SO good – compressive, super high waisted (even on my 5’9″ frame, which is usually hard to find), great material, and don’t sag after a day of wear – I’ve worn them around the house all day, then gone for a run at 6pm and they fit fantastic.

Obviously had to get the matching T Sport sweatshirt too, it just felt *right 🙂 Love the colors above – I’m usually a black-on-black girl (the navy was a BOLD departure for me, ha) but some of those fun spring colors are tempting!

    1. Oo this is high praise! Those leggings are now at the top of my list, too. Thanks for reporting back. I also mainly exercise in Lululemon and for running in cold weather, almost exclusively Tracksmith, but have slowly been venturing out to try new brands here and there. Beyond Yoga was such a fab surprise to me!

      xx
