My Dream Packing List for London This Summer.

By: Jen Shoop

Emphasis on the word DREAM as obviously I the lineup below is long enough to sustain a full summer of dressing. But I have been actually doing something different for this trip — I have a Word doc with a bunch of different outfits identified already as potential contenders — and this led me down a rabbit hole of imagining all the chic things I could wear…

I’m mainly imagining tailored dresses and crisp shirting — with a little American twist 🙂

My dream packing list for London collage.

HALTER DRESS // TOTE // SUNNIES // SANDALS // SHORTS // JACKET // SKIRT

01. This crisp cotton blue and white stripe dress. I ordered this — it’s just going to be a forever piece. Love the interesting detail of the elbow length sleeves cinched off by mother of pearl buttons. The shape is a dream. The neckline is perfect for showcasing a simple stack of meaningful gold jewelry. Use code SHOOP15 off of this and any Gwyn / Goop house label brands!

02. The eyelet shorts of summer. These are SO good on.

03. Swooning over the bib and silouette on this dress — this British brand is next level chic. Get the vibe in mini version for less here.

04. Pendle tailored vest. Pair with Ruti pants — use code JEN15 — or crisp white shorts!

05. Margaux palermo wrap sandals.

06. This skirt…! Simple but so impeccably polished. The stripe has a raised, braided texture. Looks like a million bucks paired with a white tank and sandals or a button-down!

07. Speaking of perfect white tanks: I swear by this one (in every color). Use code JENSHOOP.

08. Broderie anglaise-trimmed linen maxi dress (absolutely SWOONING over this dress and have alerts set on The Real Real for this fab brand — vibe for less here: stunning white dress perfect for a casual dinner date). I watched this random fashion forecasting video and the gal was saying that the posh women in the Cotswolds wear Vita Kin in the summer.

09. Love the crisp but unfussy stripes on this puff-sleeve striped top.

10. I can’t stop thinking about this denim drop-pleat dress. I’ve mentioned it a ton I know. The tailoring is just beyond fab.

11. These shorts are perfectly tailored and the print is fun without being too flashy.

12. This Italian linen tote — great bag for a day of sightseeing; carries an absolute ton (including a laptop if you need it). Still on sale at Cuyana!

13. This Veronica Beard embroidered jacket for a subtle nod to Americana West.

14. Everyone needs a white circle skirt in their wardrobe! Infinitely versatile.

15. Ultra-luxe La Ligne linen pants. I ordered these in navy!

16. Cannot rave more about the fashion-y silhouette of this short sleeved button-down from TWP. Sort of an IYKYK brand right now, up and coming.

17. This cashmere sweater is one of my favorites for layering when in a chilly interior. The sweatshirt detail at the neckline keeps it fresh and modern. Slim fit!

18. This halter dress is absolute perfection. The chocolate brown stripe! The cinched waist! (Vibe for less: this Boden striped linen dress or this brown stripe halter.)

19. True, this is a French brand, but you know I am deeply partial to the large canvas totes from RDV, and they’re currently on sale. Great travel day bags, and then you can snap them into a smaller shape for everyday wear.

20. Another cool tote: bandana print! Bonus points: this packs flat and weighs nothing.

21. Obsessed with the shape of these Loewe sunglasses.

22. These Jimmy Choo suede flats are architecturally interesting. Love them in the brown suede.

23. My RSVP dress in the cool brown/taupe color (low stock alert in this color, but also available in three other great ones). This is definitely going in my bag; I’m very into this Hermes-coded minky brown taupe color that has been popping up all over the place. I’m actually wearing this while writing this piece and it’s just insanely chic, polished, and pulled-together but feels like you’re wearing a tank. You can also dress up/down. Use code JENSHOOP for a discount!

I was looking at Tower Bridge on my lunch break today and it reminded me of your trip. We’re having a series of heatwaves at the moment but it’s the UK so you have to be prepared for it to rain.

I forgot to say on your previous post that London is having a lot of phone swipe thefts, where someone on a motorbike or moped will grab your phone out of your hand. So keep aware of your surroundings and use a wrist strap or lanyard.

I was also thinking, since you’re religious, that you might enjoy evensong. Various cathedrals and churches in town have evensong (free to attend) and it’ll be listed on the venue’s website. Westminster Abbey is obvious but if you end up going to Borough Market you could look at Southwark Cathedral (next door).

Try to stick to one color palette that way you can mix and match to what you bring plus I see a lot of white in your dream wardrobe which picks up dirt and and stains far easier than other colors. I would also suggest bringing pants too if you’re doing a lot of walking. I find wearing a dress or skirt can sometimes impede your walking. Lastly a pair of sneakers is a must as well. Have a great trip!
