We’ve already had our first snowfall in the DC area, and it made me realize my son needs new snow pants (!). But the main thing it impressed upon me: my children’s joy in it, even when thin on the ground. We had a scant inch and they were out there for hours! Just another reminder that joy exists in the smallest of denominations: great leftovers for lunch, warm socks just out of the laundry, a flurry of morning snow. (More great, marginal things that make life better here.)
On a more practical note, some great snow and ski gear for children for the season ahead —

SKI TROUSERS // SNOW BOOTS // NECK WARMER // SNOW SAUCER // PATCHWORK COAT // SKI GOGGLES // WOOL SOCKS // BALACLAVA
02. Love the cherries on these snow boots.
04. Base layer set.
06. The same snow suit in red!
08. Snow boots from my personal favorite winter weather footwear brand. If you can buy them in unisex navy and pass down to multiple kids / cousins / etc…!
10. Thermal underwear for boys.
14. Snow sled from L.L. Bean — classic.
15. This lined hat: warm and practical.
17. Plush mittens.
19. Balaclava with pom poms! Absolutely adorable with a little baby face peeping out!
21. The sweetest snowsuits for babies!
23. I love Sperry snowboots — the design is iconic.
25. Ski goggles.
26. Snowman kit.
27. Hot cocoa spoon — could be a great stocking stuffer / white elephant gift!
28. Gingerbread mugs for hot cocoa!
30. Yeti sweatpants for little boys. My son would love these.
31. This fleece pramsuit is precious.
And a final note: I found these hot cocoa bombs at Trader Joe’s for like $3 each! They were an Advent calendar surprise this week and a huge hit with the kids. You heat up milk and drop these in — they melt and reveal marshmallows! Add to cart next time you’re there!

Hi Jen! Thanks for these recs. I’m wondering: have you ever tried the brand Reima? It’s all the rage in Colorado but I haven’t given it.a go yet. 🙂 I also want to say at least if you live in Colorado, FB Marketplace is the place to go for snow gear!
Hi! Actually we love that brand – both my kids have Reima ski jackets – but I didn’t like the aesthetics of the current season options!! Ha!! Hoping they return to more classic colors and patterns next season. But, strongly rec!
