Chic Things I Saw London Women Wearing.

So many chic and inspiring outfits in London! My favorite people-watching perch was on Pavilion Road in Chelsea, which was a minute’s walk from our second hotel, The Beaverbrook Town House. Pavilion Road (the stretch off Sloane Square) is like an old village high street — closed to cars, foot traffic only — with a collection of independent, local shops, including a butcher, a florist, a paper boutique, a cheesemonger, an ice creamery, a wine shop. The street has this confetti-like bunting fluttering overhead. Absolutely charming and packed with the most stylish people! I saw a beautiful couple wearing what must have been head to toe Loro Piana pop in for a stand-up espresso at the coffee shop there. Chic chic chic. (This is where Landon picked up groceries and coffee for us one morning, I made a pharmacy stop, and we also enjoyed a quick pizza-slice lunch before heading to the airport on our final day, but I could have spent hours just sitting there watching the world walk by.)

Anyhow, my notes from observing the stylish there and elsewhere in London:

01. The headline here is that long, nearly-bermuda length denim shorts are everywhere in London — pairs like this and this. Even Landon noticed it and commented! Most pairs hit just above the knee but we saw culotte-length/true bermuda-length styles like this, too. I noticed a density of this look outside cool-looking pubs with patrons in their lates 20s and early 30s, and a lot of them are being paired with ballet flats (a lot of wovens!) and/or designer sandals (I saw a number of Hermes Chypres; N.B. that The Real Real is a great source for this style). Nearly 100% of the shorts I saw were being paired with button-downs. Very chic and unexpected!

02. I also saw a lot of silky shorts with lace trim (like these) paired with button-downs. I saw one specific gal wearing this outfit with these jelly sandals — she looked very of-the-moment.

03. For athletic wear, THE outfit was black bike shorts with a black matching tank and chunky sneakers like these. I saw this outfit on at least two women each time I left the hotel! It was very chic/sophisticated for athleisure! I ordered the entire head to toe look to copy! I also spotted these sneakers on a handful of more casual outfits, similar to the looks below.

04. In general, a lot of woven footwear. I saw open-weave boat shoes more than once, similar to these (currently 70% off!). In fact, maybe they were this pair. But also, lots of woven ballet flats and mary janes like this and this.

05. Singular standout outfits: I saw a woman wearing these Loewe jeans!!! I know logos aren’t for everyone, but I have to say the fit was a 10/10 on her.

06. Absolute TON of Adidas Sambas, both in London and in Norway. They are reigning the casual style moment over there. I spotted one gal wearing them with the Doen white skirt, a simple black shrunken-fit sweatshirt, and Raybans. Impossibly cool!

07. For evening, fewer sundresses and more simple, sophisticated shapes in black — things like this. I felt most at home while dining out there wearing this dress.

The style there inspired me to reach for simple black pieces like my Ruti pants and this new LBD I just ordered, paired with designer flats (I recently snagged a pair of these in mint condition on TRR). I’m also intrigued by the longer-length shorts. This may prove a bit tricky for someone as petite as I am, but I’m definitely curious. I like the vibe of these (not denim, but longer length), paired with something simple up top and a designer flat.

Also going to be following the chic/polished all-black athletic wear vibe!
