What I Loved Wearing This Week: July 17, 2026.

This week was full of pieces that I am deeply enthusiastic about!

THE Faherty Dress.

If I had to rec one piece from this week to order now, it’d be this Faherty dress. She’s been a Magpie reader best-seller for weeks and weeks now, and I understand why. She moves like magic. The skirt is a perfect swishing material that just floats around you like a dream and the top is comfortably smocked and waist-defining. And isn’t a scoopneck sexy?! I love her. I’ve mentioned this a few times, but I’ve taken to calling this dress “the Dakota Johnson.” Not that she’s worn it, but that I think it’s exactly the kind of effortless-cool thing she would wear and look amazing in. Sort of a “I can hang and look both sexy and girl-next-door at the same time.”

The Perfect Travel/Day Out Tote Bag I Own in Two Colors.

One Magpie reader wrote and said: “Do I need a second color of this bag? No. But the heart wants what it wants.” Couldn’t agree more. This is a tote bag so great I’ve bought it twice. I love the elegant simplicity and gold hardware. A little more upscale than an LL Bean, and it looks like “something” — people won’t know what. Is it Hermes?! they might wonder. The color combinations are next-level chic and of course the construction is perfect. My favorite detail is that you can snap the bag in to make it more appropriate for everyday wear or unsnap it for longer hauls / bigger schleps. This will be my travel day tote now and forever.

Surprise Summer MVP: The Nautical Cardi.

Surprise favorite / repeat wear of the summer: this splurge-y sailboat cardi. It’s the perfect whimsical top layer to everything. I love her with gingham, white eyelet, white denim, stripes! A Dreamy Embroidered Statement Dress to Beat the Heat.

Airy and ethereal — this dress barely touches your body but packs a BIG punch. I was stopped by three separate women asking about this dress! On sale right now.

The Easy Crochet Pant.

I’ve seen all these cool Euro street starlets rocking crochet pants and shorts with flip flops all summer long and really wanted to get in on the fun. These Splendids are so fun and easy to wear — love the bold tomato red. A tad hot if you’ll be outdoors, but we were watching the soccer games and running errands! Great summer lounge.

A Skirt as Comfortable as Sweatpants.

I took my girl shopping at the mall on Sunday and wanted max comfort for the excursion. I slipped into this easy skirt (comes in 14 fun patterns — mine is past season), which barely touches your body. Supremely soft smocking but the cotton gives the skirt itself a good amount of structure so it really holds its shape nicely. Paired with the softest tee I own and THE huaraches.

The Athletic Dress You’ll Want in Every Color.

Rhapsodized about this dress earlier this week, but she is really is superb. I now own in the mid blue and this crisp nautical navy and took her out for a healing morning walk. Anne Lamott was right: “Eighty percent of everything that is true and beautiful can be experienced on any ten-minute walk.”
