Chic Athletic Dresses (and Skirts/Skorts) for Summer.

By: Jen Shoop

I’m dedicating a full weekday post to this subject, because I’ve been really leaning into athleisure/athletic wear this summer, mainly on account of all the time spent at the pool for Emory’s practices and meets, but also — the heat! And I know based on the popularity of this athletic dress (seen above — I now own in navy and blue) among Magpies that many of you must be in the same boat. We’re looking for cute, pulled-together athletic wear that can work whether we’re running errands, supervising toddlers engaged in water play in the backyard, squeezing in a quick strength training session, or observing our kids at a summer swim meet.

Spotlight: The Rhoback Vista Athletic Dress.

My top rec for a chic, versatile athletic dress is the Rhoback Vista (seen above), which I know many of you must now already own as well. This is an exceptional buy for several reasons. First, this is actually a highly-functional athletic garment. I have worked out in this (done HIIT, strength training, etc), and it’s divine. The material is moisture-wicking, the fit is perfect, and it really moves with you without digging in anywhere. It has semi-detached shorts beneath so you can use the facilities without removing the entire dress, and it also has a little pocket for a tennis ball in case you’re a racquets lady. But it’s also cute styled with a little striped tee tied around the waist, a big sun hat, and flip flops or sneakers for a more hybrid look for pool/chasing kids/errands. I love that it has a built in bra and those semi-detachable shorts. Have I mentioned how good the fit is? Body skimming but not restrictive; a great soft stretchy but moisture wicking material. Just 10/10.

Recently wore this dress in navy on a healing morning walk around my neighborhood with my favorite socks (reminder my code SHOOP21 is still active for 21% off first-time orders), my favorite athletic belt bag, and a striped tee. (Cute little fish necklace is here.)

Heads up that Rhoback is currently running a rare sale and this similar style athletic dress (don’t own, has a slightly different neckline but looks to be otherwise super similar) is 40% off right now.

If you want something a little dressier, try their Melbourne athletic dress, which I also own and love. Same great fit and material but the polo collar make it a tad less “performance wear.” Both of these run TTS.

And! I was just at the pool the other day and my girlfriend showed up in the CUTEST contrast-trim tennis dress. She looked fresh as a daisy in it. In my cart now as well.

Finally, on the skirt/skort front, I have been liking the everyday look of mixing an athletic skirt/skort with a daytime tee and handbag. I think you can mix and match these styles pretty easily. (See me in my look along these lines here.)

Anyhow — all my favorite athletic dresses and skorts below —

Post-Script: Audiobooks!

Today is the last day to take advantage of Audible’s insanely good summer promotion — if you’re a Prime member, you get 3 months free plus a $20 credit, which is like four free audiobooks. If you’re non-Prime, you get three months for $0.99/mo plus the credit. I was so honored to work with Audible on Monday’s post, but this mention here is totally unsponsored/unprompted — I just seriously think this is a great deal and that, as I age, I find myself leaning on the comfort of audiobooks much more than I’d ever have expected. Hope you love as much as I do!
