Things I Find Randomly Attractive: Husband Edition.

By: Jen Shoop

+A backwards hat;

+The fact that I don’t know anything about when our where my car is serviced, but it always is;

+Forearms;

+Being able to turn off my brain while traveling because he handles everything (tickets, passports, lines, ubers, seat assignments, baggage);

+”I’ll pick up the kids”;

+Tennis whites;

+Perfect nail grooming (does he trim them daily?);

+Wordless communication from across the room via eyebrows or subtle head gestures and sometimes even less;

+The way he holds his beer;

+His wedding band;

+Watch tan;

+The fact that he bought me Sade’s “Diamond Life” record (he gets things);

+His willingness to watch Linklater’s Before Trilogy;

+Rhone Dreamstate sweats (trust me);

+The way he says my name;

+”I’ll take care of it” (*fans self)

Post-Scripts.

+N.B.: I posted the photo above on Instagram and got questions about his outfit — he’s wearing AYR jeans, Hunter’s slim refined Chelsea rainboots, and this Arcteryx rain jacket (on sale). Doesn’t he look like a Norseman? Lol! My brother always says he looks like Jason Statham too.

+Half of me walks down Columbus Ave…(the other half is mentally taking note of everything to tell my husband when we reunite).

+The softest kinds of love.

+Marriage is…

Shopping Break.

+Brand-new, selling-fast pair of everyday pants from Faherty. Immediately in my cart! Also love the neckline on this new dress they just released.

+The sneaker all the cool Euro ladies are wearing. (Like the details on this version.)

+Marea restocked this bestselling cardigan!

+Just my monthly reminder that this “volume” line of haircare is so, soooo good. I love it so much I decanted it into Cadence capsules for my trip even though the hotels in London were well-stocked with great haircare!

+These retro-style dolphin hem shorts are SO fun and only $32 in select colors.

+A new Ruti pant silhouette, and two new fall colors/patterns in our favorite travel pants! Aubergine could be really chic with a chartreuse pop…use code JEN15.

+Extra 25% off sale prices on classic gym sneaks and Nike dunks for kids!

+Ordered this skin prep duo from one of my current favorite skincare brands. I also noticed Prequel has a hypochlorous acid spray (total MVP for airplane travel! natural antibacterial spray plus refreshes, tones, etc!) — a lot of us are obsessed with the Tower28 formula, but this caught my eye, too!

+New colors in our favorite alt to a white tee — love the camel/white stripe variation.

+Into the silhouette on this gingham seamed scoopneck dress.

+A fall staple for me. The shrunken fit is so good! Use code jenshoop15.

+Tatcha is still running its fun promotion (two travel minis with orders over $100, plus use code FORTUNE26 for a chance to win a bonus treat) — my three holy grail products from this brand here.

+Over at AYR, love the clean 90s energy of this denim skirt, and how CHIC is this tuxedo-front button-down?

+The coolest-fitting sweatpants — I own this set in brown. Get the look for less with these! Also love these bandana print sweats in a traditional silhouette.

+Thinking ahead to fall: this fleece jacket (temporarily discounted) and this brown suede crossbody.

Love the “fans self”, swoon!

I would also add:
– “Oh, I already did that” when I mention an admin item
– “You just relax, Fezzy” on a weekend morning
– “What perfume are you wearing?” — as someone who wears all different perfumes, the heart flutter of this question carries huge weight both with if I’m trying something new AND wearing a cult classic or one of my wedding perfumes
– His Aldi merino sweat suit — it shouldn’t work but it does, bonus points if he’s got his asics on to work out
– When he’s leaning over and telling our dog how adorable he is
– Sunglasses + linen shirt slightly unbuttoned + wet hair + apero (especially if we’re sharing a carafe of local wine)
– Bringing out the flask of hot coffee he’s made us on a train journey
– When he says, “Same team” even though we’re mid-disagreement
– When we’re on a dog walk, and he announces, “I think we need to go to a bakery and get some things to have with second coffee”
– His Blarney woollen mills heavy Aran sweater and just a little snow day scruff
– Wildflowers brought home for me that he’s carried in his jacket breast pocket so they don’t get crushed
– When he’s making warm conversation with border security even though they’re ice cold with everyone else
– His Barbour jacket, especially on a travel day
– When things are going to hell but he’s put together a plan of attack and he kisses me on the cheek before heading out to tackle the problem

It’s our ten-year wedding anniversary this week and I feel so extra heart eyes for my husband xx
