Last night, we lost an hour of strenuous sun,
but we gained
an excuse for early candlelight
a season that reminds us that there is joy in anticipation
— a kind of held-breath beauty in waiting for the good —
which is, in its own way, an anti-scroll sentiment:
let us sit here and be glad in the halfway.
(And isn’t most of life navigating the deeply unfashionable middle of things? And finding joy in it nonetheless?)
We also gained
a reason to curl up and linger beneath the early morning comforter,
and the neighborly consolations of November:
draw close, drawn near, draw in
to the hearth and the heart of things

Shopping Break.
+Wore this cute little (deliberately obtuse) “American Football” sweatshirt yesterday. This led me to curate a little pod of sports mom sweatshirts for those of us in our bleacher years.
+I’m currently eyeing this long sleeve dress! She’s so fun and easy to layer beneath a little sherpa vest or chunky sweater with a suede boot. I feel like this could be worn to so many events in my lineup — dinners, school cocktail parties, etc!
+Updated my Shopbop hearts. Their current season curation is epic! They just restocked this patchwork CallItByYourName bag and FAB under-$200 chartreuse cocktail party dress.
+I think I’ve talked myself into ordering these cranberry velvet (!!!!) Maysales. They are just beyond perfect for every holiday outfit. Love the way they look with trousers or a dress. The other shoes I recently picked up: these PERFECTLY-PROPORTIONED, STUNNING heeled booties. I don’t have anything like her in my closet and she’s just perfect. The picture of polish.
+Small cache of Marea deeply discounted here. This vest!!!
+For your Thanksgiving tablescape: this tablecloth, these John Derian crackers, these candlestick holders (tie off with thin velvet ribbon and fill with these candlesticks), and these superlatives placecards.
+Loving the idea of this bubblegum pink color mixed in with autumnal tones like burgundy and chestnut.
+These paisley jeans are insanely chic.
+The neckline on this sweater is so cool and unexpected. Khaite vibes.
+Plaid wool column skirt — so good. Giving English countryside. I love the idea of her with my new boots.
+How charming (!!!) is this tartan jacket?! Your new annual Christmas jacket! It’s very Louisa May Alcott coded in a way I can’t put my finger on.
+This calf-hair coat and this faux fur leopard — OMG. SWOON.
+Deeply charmed by these Christmas stockings. More holiday home finds here!
