The Gray Area

By: Jen Shoop

…and continuing the crazy roller coaster of a sartorial wishlist I’ve been riding this week, today’s post is about a new favorite color combination: gray + neon.  Let’s begin with the heavy hitter: this frayed tweed Lanvin dress (yah, right — $2,415, Net-A-Porter) and a touch-o-neon chain necklace (Adia Kibur, $144, Shopbop):

Perfection with these bold yellow pumps (Sergio Rossi, $525, The Webster), which are — in my opinion — the perfectly constructed heel.  Balanced, not too chunky.  Timeless.

I like the look finished with this snakeskin tote by up-and-coming liner Dax Gabler ($2,190, Dax Gabler):

Or, how about this colorblocked DVF ($345, Bloomingdale’s — or get the look for less with this $49 Tinley Road style), which I’d pair with this simple bold pendant ($58, Minoux)

Finish with these oh-so-perfect textured pumps (B by Brian Atwood, $325, Intermix):

A simple black cross-body finishes the look (Alexander Wang, $650, Barney’s):

Or, how about this asymmetrical hem top (DVF, $265, Net-A-Porter) with skinnies in a dark gray hue (J. Brand, $198, Shopbop), a bold pendant necklace ($599, Luisa Via Roma), and some cherry-red flats (Jil Sander, $455, MyTheresa):

Finish with a clean, sophisticated gray tote (WOAH, why are Victoria Beckham’s handbags so expensive?! — $2,700, Net-A-Porter):

Alternately, test out the maxi skirt trend, which I’m seriously loving at the moment.  Try this gray style by Maison Martin Margiela (all the rappers love this line for some reason I’m not quite grasping — $640, Net-A-Porter) with a pink sleeveless blouse (Equipment, $178, Shopbop) and the neon earrings that I’m giving away today!!!! (read to the bottom to see if you won — $12.50, Rocks Paper Metal):

Round it out with these architectural gray and lipstick pink tootsies ($1,050, Net-A-Porter) and a tangerine clutch ($95, Graphic Image):

Also loving this simple gray dress (DVF, $375, Shopbop), which I’d wear with this eye-catching dip-dyed rope necklace ($125, Sight Unseen):

Finish with simple yellow pumps ($139, Nordstrom):

I’d finish with this bright persimmon-hued clutch ($895, Proenza Schouler):

Or — let the dress do the work for you via this Rebecca Taylor maxi ($425, Net-A-Porter) and a pair of bold cluster earrings ($145, Doloris Petunia):

Wowza.  All you’d need are some corresponding peeptoes ($198, J. Crew)

Finally, a few goodies on their own — the PS1 pochette ($1,735, Proenza Schouler) or this stunning necklace ($445, Dannijo) or these affordable hot pink sloafers ($20, Target):

Or, how about this neon-and-gray scarf ($149, plus 40% with the coupon code posted on the site! — Calypso):

Perfection offset with these neon-accented danglers (~$300, Shourouk):

And now — the moment you’ve all been waiting for!  The winner of the UH-MAY-ZING neon studs from Rocks Paper Metal is:

Clarissa, email me so I can have these bad boys sent your way!
