A quick ode to of my favorite knitwear brands, La Ligne — probably my most-worn sweaters, year-round. If I were to recommend starting with one, I’d recommend either their Mini Marin in a fun color or stripe (be bold!), because I think it’s the most versatile for styling*, or their Marin Cardigan, which has been a mainstay of my winter uniform this year (I have the gray, which is really more of a misty-foggy-blue-gray, but the camel would be equally wearable), and is the ideal “desk sweater” that you can toss on over anything (pajamas, a t-shirt, another knit). Both of them feature the most gorgeous thick stitching, slightly exaggerated collar and cuff details, and perfect silhouette proportions. The handfeel is 10/10 — soft, plush, very warm. I take my true size in this brand (XS) even though they do offer an XXS, as I think the fit is meant to be just a touch on the slouchy side.

*I also own and love their longer Marin sweater, but — for me at least, as a petite — the styling is somewhat limited to either straight-leg jeans or silky pants that offer some definition on the length. If I wear this sweater with barrel or wide-leg jeans, I feel swallowed whole, which is why I personally suggest the “mini” (cropped) version, as you can wear a wider range of silhouettes on the bottom.
If you’re looking for someone to suggest colorways: in solid, I love the cherry red; in stripe, I think the mustard/pink and cream/blue are spectacular and fun. And of course the pink/tan shown below. I also found this sweater on sale here.

La Ligne Looks for Less.
This Boden gets pretty close to the vibe, although it’s 100% cotton (which you may prefer!), so it won’t have that plush cashmere look and feel that the Mini Marin does. The color combos below are incredible, though, and very La Ligne-coded. This sweater also comes in a longer length comparable to the Marin.
