Earlier this week, Tuckernuck invited me into their brand-new, gorgeous store in Georgetown. It’s going to be a gamechanger for my local Magpies who live in the DC area (especially NW DC and Arlington), as it sits across from Martin’s Tavern (IMO, a little easier to find parking there than down on M, and you could easily walk down from North Georgetown after lunch at Yellow or a visit to A Mano for gifts) and they’ve thoughtfully arranged their assortment into evening/party looks and everyday upgrades, making it easy to pop in to find exactly what you need (i.e., a last-minute cocktail party dress or a cashmere cardigan in a punchy color to ease us into true warm weather). I also noticed they installed a chic “returns window” where you can exchange or return items purchased online without having to ship back.

The physical space is worth a visit on its own merits — designed by the esteemed interior designer Cece Barfield, it feels more like a private home than a retail site. The store gals told me that they are very intentional about designing their new shops; the NYC storefront is meant to feel like an UES brownstone, and the DC one is intended to give you a “Georgetown rowhouse” vibe. I was personally smitten with the fabric-draped dressing room all the way in the back. Absolutely spectacular place to try on clothes; just a fab and elevated in-store experience.

I tried on a couple of their new spring items and left with this dress (perfect for a Derby party — Landon and I are already planning to mix up juleps with friends for the occasion) and this one (ideal for Easter if it’s cooler where you are) as well as another of their gorgeous cashmere cardigans, this time in a fetching peony pink. (This color just does something to your skin — it’s the clothing equivalent of a cosmetic highlighter. It really turns on the lights!)
