+HONORING THE SEASON YOU’RE IN: Someone recently told me that true self-care starts with accepting and honoring the micro-season of life you’re in — whether pregnancy, empty nest, career-building, grief, perimenopause, post-partum, early motherhood, recovery! I thought this was such a beautiful and practical way of thinking about self-care, and the way it will shape-shift from season to season. What you need right now to feel good, cared-for, may look very different from what you crave in a few months. I think especially when I was younger — I’m thinking of the newborn days — I was resisting the season I was in. I was still trying to maintain a spic-and-span household, stay on top of the laundry, be social, etc. I wish I’d let myself “winter” instead. What season are you in? What do you need to feel good right now?
+ON MAKING DENTAL APPOINTMENTS: This made me LOL and I think a lot of you can relate, based on your reactions to this post!
+SUMMER LOADING:
A couple of finds and style notes that are inspiring me in this pre-summer headspace:

Recreate with a classic Ralph Lauren crewneck and a pair of Comme Si shorts, as I did below (or get the look for a little less from Buck Mason with these or J. Crew with these) —

SHORTS + KNITS: BOXER SHORTS, MINNOW SWEATER, MARGAUX SANDALS
THE LOUNGE SET FOR SUMMER: NAUTICAL STRIPED TOP AND TRACK PANTS — INSANELY SOFT AND SEXY; GO UP A SIZE IN THE BOTTOMS
SUMMER SKIN: GOOP BEAUTY’S NEW AND IMPROVED VITAMIN C IS UNBELIEVABLEEEE (SO POTENT, IMMEDIATELY “TURNS ON THE LIGHTS” IN YOUR SKIN) — USE CODE SHOOP15
I ALSO RESTOCKED MY FAVORITE ALL-PURPOSE SERUM FOR SUMMER (SMELLS LIKE FLOWERS AND LEAVES SKIN DEWY AND BRIGHT) + AM TESTING THESE NEW PTR “PEPTIDE” PATCHES! YOU LEAVE ON OVERNIGHT TO TREAT SPECIFIC WRINKLE-PRONE AREAS
J. CREW’S NEW AND INSTANTLY ICONIC MONTAUK TOTE — 40% OFF
Not seen above, but three pairs of chic, barefoot-summer pants for under $160 to consider:

SPLENDID’S ANGIE, ESPECIALLY IN THE PERFECT BLUE COLOR
+ITALY’S SMALLEST LIBRARY: How charming?! From the caption: ” ‘Without a book, so often the child is alone,’ says Antonio La Cava. The retired schoolteacher converted his three-wheeled van into a mobile library, the Bibliomotocarro. Driving the hills and mountains of Basilicata, Italy, La Cava can reach children in remote villages like San Paolo Albanese, which only has two children of primary school age.” I also loved this story about a Moroccan bookseller who built a bookstore as a kind of talkback: ““This is how I take my revenge on my childhood, my situation, my poverty,” Aziz says.”

+THE FLUFFY SEAGULL: If you’re going to Cape Cod this summer, would you stop by the Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry and order their signature latte, The Fluffy Seagull, for me?! My editor is working on their cookbook right now and I’m so jealous she was able to get out there to see it IRL!
+BESTSELLERS: This breezy white dress, which I just ordered, too. Such a great one for summer BBQs, everyday ease, Saturday brunch.
