What to Wear to the Pool / Beach This Summer.

By: Jen Shoop

Summer is here, and so are pool days and warm-weather vacations. Below, sharing the chicest swimsuits I’ve come across this season, with an emphasis on one-piece pieces that boast flattering silhouettes and enough coverage for hanging out with family.

Stylest swimsuit review

I wanted to spotlight Stylest’s “Dreamsculpt” suit for fellow 40-something chickadees — this brand is focused on “solutions” — i.e., they offer suits with tummy control, chest support, etc., only I wish they’d use the word “feature” vs. “solution.” Anyway, the signature Dreamsculpt material really holds you in without being overly compressive / making you feel like you’re in sausage casing. You can use code JEN15 for 15% off sitewide. (Styled above with this hat, Dorsey necklaces one and two, these pants.

My favorite swimsuits: I'm 40 edition collage.

HUNZA G BLUE // RED FLORA // JETTY STRIPE // SCALLOPED ONE-PIECE // LIME GREEN EYELET // BODEN PINK AND GREEN

01. Magpie longtime bestseller: the flora one-piece.

02. This ultra-flattering one-piece. (Use code JEN15).

03. Love this floral print Hill House suit. I find their swimwear exceptional. The material is non-compressive in a pleasant way. I always feel super comfortable in their suits!

04. Lovely jetty stripe with tie straps.

05. Sweet scallop trim. Iconic shape, and it’s on sale!

06. Supremely comfortable Hunza G swimsuit.

07. Minnow jasmine blossom top and matching high-waisted bottoms. The first bikini I’ve seriously considered in a long time.

08. Balconette Tory Burch structured one-piece (on sale in this print: mint cockatoo and look for less here: Boden one-piece.) I own this suit in a different print and it’s absolutely fabulous on.

09. Pale willow eyelet J.Crew suit.

10. Primrose plaid top and the matching swim skirt. CHIC, especially if you’re looking for a little extra coverage while chasing kids.

11. I can’t stop thinking about the snap front neckline on this.

12. Scoopneck top and the matching high-rise bottoms.

13. This seashell pattern is perfect! Ciao bella!

Pareos + Cover Ups.

01. This silk pareo is in constant rotation.

02. Towel dress with fringe detail.

03. This Julia Amory “husband shirt” makes the perfect cover-up. Super lightweight, breathable cotton.

04. Sky-blue embroidered terrycloth caftan.

05. Triple cotton gauze shorts.

06. Lightweight cotton pareo.

07. Terry skirt with fringe detail — SO obsessed.

08. Fab floral and striped wrap skirt.

09. This Lake nightgown makes a great coverup.

10. Ruffle-trim scoopneck eyelet mini dress.

11. This sailor red seersucker skirt is perfect for the Fourth of July!

12. Timeless silhouette on this gingham picnic dress.

13. Love the movement the fringe adds to this pareo.

Poolside Accessories.

+This radiant sunscreen is everything (use code JEN20)

+Natural raffia straw hat. UPF50! Packable, too!

+These glitter jellies are the shoe of summer.

+Bogg bags are the perfect pool/beach bag. I’ve tried all kinds but I keep coming back to this for my week-in, week-out pool bag. I love the structure of it (stands up on its own) and of course it can be wiped / hosed down — and you can toss wet suits right in there.

+Customizable Weezie beach towels.

+Teak beach chairs — chic chic.

+Picnic basket for easy summer lunch storage!
