What the Cool Girls Are Wearing: Jan 2026.

By: Jen Shoop

A couple of high-hype brands and styles I’ve been noticing amongst the chic editor and Substack author set:

01. Danni Taffeta Pants.

Donni taffeta pants. I know a lot of Magpies are the OG cool girls because you’ve been wearing and evangelizing these pants for several seasons now. I finally caved with their latest drop (these sell through REALLY fast) and got the oregano colored ones. I wanted the pink ones but they sold through before I snagged; the polka dots are interesting but I think the oregano will be easier to style. (You can see some Donni gals in the pants above and below; also seen recently on chic peas Julia Berolzheimer and Lilly Sisto.)

02. Nour Hammour Outerwear.

Nour Hammour Outerwear. Super pricey and spectacular coats favored by celebs like Rosie Huntingon-Whitley, Dakota Johnson, Kendall Jenner, Emrata. Love the robe style options, like Juno and Elsa.

03. Rohe.

A very hot label, specifically for blazers, knitwear, and jackets — namely, the Marie wool jacket with those unique button fastens; on sale in brown here. I love this unusual fringed topper and this plaid oversized style, too.

04. Comme Si Socks.

Comme Si socks — just everywhere!

05. Fringe and Tassel Everything.

I have a whole separate post on all the fab offering in this micro-trend but I’m obsessing over this sweater jacket and this fringed top, plus any and all tassel necklaces, but especially this, this (hot brand to watch — images from their Instagram feed below), and this $59 steal.

A handful of other alerts and shopping discoveries:

+You may have noticed that these Margaux flats featured above are on sale! Yes — Margaux is running a fab archive sale. Can’t rec their demi ballets more. I love the leopard, the silver, and this rich navy suede. These more formal satin flats are also beyond fab. Imagine with a smart blazer.

+While we’re talking shoes, a few designer styles I think will be major for the season ahead: these Miu Miu sneakers (love the lived-in leather effect); these Jimmy Choo sneakers (on sale in this pink crochet); and these Prada crochet ballerinas, which are on my wishlist for spring.

+I misspoke over the weekend — the Colleen Rothschild wunderproduct tinted under-eye cream is NOW 25% off. Cannot rec more. I had given up hope on undereye products but this is excellent. Sort of bridges the gap between skincare and cosmetics; the tint color corrects and leaves a wonderful rosy glow.

+Hill House just launched a really chic dress: the Alandra. It reminds me of something by Emilia Wickstead. I ordered this thinking it might be good for my book launch party in Bethesda! (April 14th — details to come — if you’re in the DMV, please, please hang out with me!). More about my book here. I’m supposed to receive an advanced copy by the end of the month — wheeee! But on the dress front: the notes say this dress runs small and to go up a size, FYI. Another dress I like from this drop: the Selene.

+Does anyone use the designer handbag rental service Vivrelle? I knew nothing about this company until they reached out a few weeks ago, but I think it’s such a clever way to test a specific handbag before making an investment in one, or to wear bright/bold/trendy styles for a season and then let them go. They are giving us one month free with code JENSHOOP in case you want to try and then I think it’s like $139/month after. I had really wanted to borrow the Savette Symmetry 19 to take it out for a spin / see how often I wear it (as you know, contemplating buying one as a treat to self when my book is published), but it was already borrowed! I ended up borrowing this cute Celine and can’t wait to style it the next few weeks. It’s such a bold pattern, I’m not sure I’d buy it myself, but I think it will add a lot of interest to my everyday wardrobe. I also contemplated borrowing one of these mini Bottega loop bags. Such a fun pop of color. Anyway – does anyone else use? I’ll share thoughts after my trial!

+New beauty launches from brands I love: Eadem just launched an advanced dark spot concentrate to target specific areas of discoloration, and Cyklar just launched hand creams in their iconic scents. Aren’t the little bottles fab?

+Reminder that Alice Walk just launched double-faced lounge sets! This brand has my number. Obsessed with everything they release.

+I’ve never seen one of these in the wild, but I can’t stop thinking about these chic Gabriela Hearst suede clutches. Geeeeez — chiiiiiic!

Oooooh cannot WAIT to hear your thoughts on Vivrelle! It’s been in back of my mind the last few months and your code may help me kick it off. I’ve scoured reddit threads for reviews and it seems overall positive – sometimes things are out of stock, but such is nature of these sites and i’m not too picky. Will pay attention for your review 🙂 thanks!!
