Resort Outfit Ideas

Magpies! I’ve been more or less unplugged for the past two weeks between hosting my family in from Norway for a week and then a big family trip to a resort in Pennsylvania for the second half. It has been bliss — but I’ve also felt completely suspended from real life. What day is it? What am I doing? And I’ve missed connecting with you all here, too. Feeling grateful today that I have an everyday routine and creative practice and warm community that I genuinely cannot wait to get back to after a little disruption. Disruption is healthy, don’t you think? It’s good to get away from it all for a minute. Gives you much needed perspective, and of course, I loved all the late night conversations and languid poolside chats and festive dinners with my parents, my siblings and their spouses, my nieces and nephews. Anyhow, a lot of outfits in this post because we were busy bees with lots of pool time, family activities, fabulous dinners, etc. Onward —

*This was kind of a bear to pack (ack! structured wicker — what were you thinking, Jen? I did fill it with my jewelry case and hair brushes but it was still a pain to nestle into a packed car) but I found it absolutely perfect for resort life. Big enough to throw sunscreen and a book in there, but refined enough to pair with a dress for dinner.

*I have gotten a ton of wear out of this classic white cotton sweater. Perfect for throwing on over shorts when in chilly indoor settings during the summer. It is spendy but cost per wear…makes it work.

*Really loving this burnout / lightweight / boxy tee. It has some transparency to it, which looks great over a swimsuit. The fit is elite!

**I’m sorry I didn’t get a better snap of this but I was really impressed with this brand. It really hugs you in — it’s pretty sculpting/fitted, sort of like Spanx for swim? — and offers good coverage. My SIL commented that she was obsessed with the color (me too) and that she liked the thicker straps which I’d not thought about, but she’s right — it has a really flattering effect on the decolletage / neck!
