My Favorite Luxury Body Lotions.

By: Jen Shoop

Niche topic today, but one I’m kind of passionate about because I absolutely hate the dry, tight feeling of unmoisturized, post-shower skin. I will occasionally skip steps in my beauty/skincare/body care routine, but I will absolutely never get out of the shower without a lotion. Below, my favorite luxe body lotions (after testing dozens):

best luxury body lotions

NECESSAIRE BODY LOTION // ST. JANE HYDRABLOOM // SOFT SERVICES CAREA CREAM // BYREDO BLANCHE CREME // CORPUS BODY BUTTER // UBEAUTY SUPER HYDRATOR FOR BODY

01. Saint Jane Hydrabloom Body Silk. The absolute best consistency for everyday use – lightweight but hydrating, and melts into skin. Packed with great ingredients, including skincare grade hyaluronic acid (hydrates), sea flower complex (firms), and chamomile and jasmine, which both soothe and soften. It has virtually no scent, which is sort of a demerit in my book! I think I’m the outlier here, but I love a luxe scented body cream that leaves just a kiss of scent beneath your clothing, and that layers nicely with perfume. However, the quality of this product as an everyday lotion cannot be overstated. I reach for this on a daily basis.

02. Corpus Body Butter. Now this is a divine scent: bergamot, pink lemon, orange blossom, cardamom. It smells fresh and herbal at the same time, and has a verdant, youthful vibe. The moisturizer itself is thick and unctuous — much heavier weight than St. Jane — and I like it especially when my skin is feeling really dry. I finished one jar and was literally scraping it clean with a spatula. Just a gorgeous scent.

03. UBeauty Super Body Hydrator — Another unscented, skincare-grade-ingredient-packed product. (This one contains Vitamin B3 and B-Glucan, which apparently helps with deep hydration.) More similar to Saint Jane, but leaves the slightest bit of tackiness on the skin after initial application — my only quibble with it. I think this is because it’s designed to have a “moisture shield,” trapping in the hydration. If you can get over this, skin looks like a dream afterward: glossy, gleaming, happy. I think my code JENSHOOP still gets you 20% off.

04. Byredo Blanche Cream — Probably my most favorite indulgence. I only permit myself to buy this once in a blue moon because it’s so spendy and I go through it way too quickly but the consistency and scent are a 10/10. Absolutely divine. In my opinion, the paradigm for a luxe body cream. It is lighter weight than Corpus but heavier duty than the other entrants on this list. It smells and feels like pure luxury.

05. Soft Services Daily Softening Lotion — This brand is SERIOUS about its ingredients. This hydrator, which goes on lightweight body lotion but hydrates like a dense cream, contains urea, colloidal oatmeal, and squalane. The urea moisturizes and gently exfoliates bumpy skin, while the other ingredients soothe and soften skin. This is a great product if you are prone to bumpy patches or dry patches. Also scent-free, FYI. Like UBeauty, it leaves a tiny bit of tackiness upon application that dissipates as you wear. A really good, very effective product; I think of this more like a medicinal workhorse to pull in when I need it.

06. Necessaire — An incredible value for a fabulous product. Like several of the other products on this list, it is packed with incredible, skincare-grade ingredients: this one has Niacinamide (been talking a lot about that ingredient recently) and plant oils rich in Vitamin C/E and Omega 6/9. This is a tremendous value buy.

Any other suggestions or favorites?

I also cannot talk about luxe body care products without RAVING about the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil (also sold at Sephora if you’re a VIB there and want to build up points). This was a top Magpie reader “regrettably worth it” item and I ordered it and have never looked back. You’ll never want to shave with Gillette again. It is an oil-to-lather product that coats the skin so gorgeously and smells divine. You emerge from the shower looking like a golden goddess. It is divine! Two promos to consider if you’re a fellow L’Occitane almond oil obsessive: L’Occitane is currently offering a discount on sets/duos and this bundle with the refill is an incredible value, and QVC has a bundle that might be worth ordering if you’re new there (you can get $30 off your first order, meaning you get both for $33).

And! I have recently been using this ultra-luxe shampoo and conditioner that Guerlain generously sent me to test. The feel and lather are very high-end — similar to Oribe — but I wasn’t sure at first whether I cared for the scent, which is sort of like a rich cherry-honey? Now I’m hooked. I don’t know; I just smell it and feel elevated and cared-for. LOL. I know that’s giving a lot of credit to a shampoo! Anyway, the best part, of course, is that it works really well on my fine hair, leaving it silky and shiny and hydrated without any residue or grease. I’ve been alternating between the Guerlain system and my Goop scalp scrub (currently 20% off for some reason!), which is SUCH a must-have for summer. Gets rid of all traces of sweat, SPF, sand, sun, etc! Sometimes I’ll apply that and then use the Crown Affair mask on the ends of my hair so that the bottoms don’t feel too dried out.

P.S. All my favorite bath and shower favorites here.

P.P.S. Everyday makeup favorites. I really can’t sing the praises of Sarah Creal concealer more. I wear it every single day! I think it’s replaced Cle de Peau as my favorite concealer of all time.

P.P.P.S. When did you hang the moon? (A love note to my husband.)

I recently discovered Augustinus Bader’s The Geranium Rose Body Oil. It moisturizes beautifully, and has a lovely delicate fragrance, that doesn’t clash with any perfume I apply.

The AB Rich Cream is one of my RWIs. I mitigate the prohibitive price tag by signing up for a subscription on the AB website. This automatically generates a 20% discount, and subscription periods can be up to 16 weeks. Also, purchases on the website earn pretty generous loyalty points, which can be used on my subscriptions. I tend to keep my skincare routine pretty simple (one of the gifts of perimenopause has been mild rosacea), and this is how I justify my little indulgence (!)

Hi Jenn: Completely unrelated, I purchased EBY bras on a recommendation from the blog, and there is a problem with my order. I have been trying to reach them for over one week and I only receive automated messages. I cannot find a telephone number on their website. Do you have one? Do you know anything?
