Fall is about fresh beginnings.  Well — every seasonal transition is, really.  And, food for thought: someone once told me that she believed that people who live in regions with all four seasons are more sentimental, because they feel the passage of time that much more keenly.  It felt like such an odd, blanketing, generalizing thing to say, but I’ve thought about her theory often–and observed that, indeed, a lot of us that experience all the seasons tend to get caught up in memories and events and rituals that mark the passage of each season.  [It also astounds me–and moves me, oddly–when people I know share such thoughtful observations.  I respect the reflection and mindfulness these proffered insights (however true or apocryphal they may be) suggest.]

So, fall.

Cooling temps make me think a lot about curling up in a sweater.  And then I realize how much I’ve been gravitating towards striped knits — new sweaters, new dresses (!), and beyond.  Yessss.  Inspo:

+This Missoni chunky sweater dress ($1,200) is loud in all the right ways.  Partly tacky apres ski vintage 70s gear and partly super funky grungy urban…I just need it.

+But mainly, I just die over this Sonia Rykiel column dress (on sale for $209), which looks so comfortable and feels like such a lovely homage to the 90s.  (But updated in the best way.)

+Also love this striped stunner from hip line Misha Nonoo ($295).

+A very collegiate-looking midi style ($176) — very fashion forward.  Looks almost like it came off of the Thom Browne runway.

+This Tommy Hilfiger sweater ($250) is such a classic.  Also: TH is making a major comeback thanks to Gigi Hadid.  Who knew these labels of the 90s (Tommy!  Calvin!) could make it?!
