PODCAST WITH NAN: My friend Nan and I had the best time chatting on her podcast, Noteworthy with Nan, a few weeks ago, and she just released the episode. Nan is one of those creatives you just want to root for. She is earnest, thoughtful, hard-working, and an incredible champion for small businesses and fellow creatives. I also love that she doesn’t take herself too seriously — very chic in my book. You can listen on Spotify here and Apple here, or watch us on Youtube! As an aside, I was incredibly impressed with her studio set-up and the professionalism she brought to the table (extremely prepared!). It takes a lot of work. One of my favorite parts of the conversation was about expectation and curiosity — she shared that clip here!
SLEEPING ON A PLANE: LOL at this reel. This was my son the entire flight home. He was flailing around every three seconds, poor little guy! Somehow one little socked foot kept ending up in my lap, almost always ripping out a cord or knocking over a glass on its way over to my side. Topic for another blog post: how do you handle long haul flights with kids? I know there are many tenured traveling parents who will have great intel for me on this front. I learned a few things this summer…
(Related to air travel, discovered a new deeply unchic thing on one of the flights: trimming one’s nails on a plane?!?!?!? Ahhhhh!)

A POEM ON AGING: Loved this from Lyndsay Rush, and specifically the reminders to cut your sandwich in triangles (whimsy! joy at its finest grind! I love the small things we do just for fun when no one else is looking — the sign of an exuberant spirit) and “dance like your mom is watching.” I love watching my kids ham it up for my pleasure. A small sweetness of motherhood.

RHOBACK’S MOCKNECKS ARE BACK: But not for long…these always sell out in a flash and sizes are already disappearing — take your true size in this! Runs intentionally roomy. I got the gray one. A PERFECT shape for layering over bike shorts. (Lady Di vibes.) BTW, I’m going to do a full style roundup on what I observed chic women wearing in London but THE athleisure look is black bike shorts and a black matching tank with tall socks and white sneakers. I saw this on about 1000 gorgeous London women exercising, grabbing a green juice or coffee, etc.

THE CITIZENS FLIGHT PANTS: These are selling out everywhere at the moment (a few more sizes here, here — and I am kind of obsessed with the denim pair?!) A really cool new utility shape with the unexpected pleating at the waist. My one hesitation as a petite is that they look long and difficult to tailor thanks to that pocket detail. For us shorties, these or these might be better silhouettes, although I can’t unsee the cool pleating on the flight pants!
WEEKEND SHOPPING ROUNDUP:
The aforementioned mockneck sweatshirt to style over bike shorts and a tank and finish with corded headphones, which are EVERYWHERE now. So funny how we all gravitated towards wireless, which do have their ease, but in some situations, cords are just so much more practical and they’re having an analog-chic moment right now.
Style the above look with Doublesoul socks (newly obsessed with this sock brand — start with their bestselling bandana print ones and then you’ll need every style) and the new APL sneakers I just got my paws on. Peak 90s vibe, and j’adore. The morning after we got home from London, I went for a long run — the first one I’d be on in ages — and it felt divine. Will be testing these new APLs out this week on another run. I was drawn to them because they slip-on and then you cinch to size, and they are meant to be ultra lightweight.
On the beauty front — my daughter’s lips can get horribly chapped in the winter and I got her this heavy-duty lip mask from Tatcha last year after a really bad chap incident, and it is INCREDIBLE. Within a day, the irritation had resolved. She brought it with her while we were traveling and it really helped after all the air travel. Was just getting the link and noticed that Tatcha is currently running a fun promotion where you get two free travel sized products when you spend $100 (and four if you spend $200) PLUS you can get a special surprise by using code FORTUNE26 at checkout. Two other Tatcha products I’m obsessed with: the best facial sunscreen (the feel is incredible; this is THE BEST outside of the Korean House of Joseon one, which is difficult to find in stock in the TRUE Korean formula without shipping from Korea, which feels crazy!!) and their dewy milk moisturizer, which I use daily.
The flight pants I mentioned earlier, plus the t-shirt Magpies couldn’t get enough of earlier this year, now fully stocked in great colors.
Ordered this TikTok viral eye-shadow in the rosewater color, which is apparently supposed to REALLY wake up the eye area and has been specifically mentioned as great for women in their 40s.

2026 BOOKER PRIZE LONGLIST PUBLISHED!: What are we reading from this?! Contemplating a few for our September book club pick. Speaking of book club, who is reading our August book? A lot of these were new to me but Strout has been on my radar. Any strong opinions?

TORY BURCH FALL/WINTER 2026: I love what I’m seeing from TB’s ready to wear for fall (they haven’t yet released pieces on line, but have a slowly-building fall edit shoppable here). Those wide-wale cords! The slouchy but tuckable fit of the knitwear! The unexpected color combos, but especially mustard with faded aquamarine! And the narrow brooches!!! Also enjoyed learning that this collection was inspired by Tory’s father and his favorite cords. Two ready-to-order now bags that I’m loving of theirs at the moment: this new handwoven basket bag (fabulous colors) and the new Radziwill bucket bag.

BESTSELLERS: This saddle bag topped this list! Still on sale in great colors. A great travel/exploring bag!
