How to Slay.

By: Jen Shoop

Want to make a big splash at holiday festivities this year?  So do I.  A few MAJ looks to turn some heads — you’ll note a lot of tone-on-tone action, and a lot of velvet.  Both are so hot RN.

LOOK 1.

This lacy frock is only $69, people.  The color, the high-neck, the length are so on point.  I love the idea of pairing it with tone-on-tone accents, like my favorite heeled sandal of all time, now available in a VELVET (ZOMG — $650); these epic drop earrings (Sachin + Bobi, $250); and this elegant MCM purse ($1,100).

LOOK 2.

Saloni velvet jumpsuit ($650, DROOL).  With a pearl-and-velvet-bow choker ($275, LOVE).  And these drop-dead-gorgeous Aquazzura pumps ($990, holy cow).  Finish with this funky outerspace Charlotte Olympia mother of pearl clutch ($1,550).

LOOK 3.

Batwing sleeve dress in cherry red ($90) with oversized starburst studs ($138).  I’ll admit, a low heel intimidates the hell out of me — will I look like a grandma in them?  Possibly.  But they are le rage right now.  So try these bow-toed Marnis ($690) on for size.  The pointy toe and big bow compensate the low heel.  Finish with this outrageous/funky perspex clutch ($978).

LOOK 4.

I LOVE this one-shouldered sweater ($555) with some wide-leg trousers (Givenchy, $1,290 — get the look for less with these J. Crews, or go super fashion-forward with these cropped Tibis) and these Zimmerman lace-up leather sandals ($480).  Up the glam factor with this sparkly clutch (Alice + Olivia, $395).

LOOK 5.

Valentino jumpsuit (on sale for $1,290).  Finish with Jimmy Choo velvet pumps ($625) and my favorite gold tassels ($45 — they are so lightweight for such a big statement!), with a Charlotte Olympia clutch ($1,650).

Any of these looks would be EPIC layered beneath this velvet cape from Anna Sui ($559).

I know I featured a lot of $$$ pieces above — but you can replicate the vibe of these luxe looks with some of these stunning, more reasonably-priced pieces:

+Velvet wrap dress ($148).

+Deep v velvet gown for the truly daring ($228).

+Red lace dress ($145).

+A STEAL for this lucite/perspex clutch — very Charlotte Olympia, but a fraction of the price, and by an up-and-coming designer ($250).

+Velvet platform heels (very YSL — $160).

+Velvet choker ($33).

+The Reformation velvet slip dress ($248).  OK, are we officially back in the 90s?  I think so.  But this looks right on point.

+Lace-up pumps ($138).

+Satin slip dress ($165 — wow).

+Velvet trim dress ($100).
