The made bed, the sorted drawer, the closed tab,
The shape of a well-made decision.
The satisfaction of a deep stretch,
The loose limbs of forgiveness,
The lullaby of laundry folded in the closet with lavender.
Coffee and radiant heat in a well-lit cafe,
The flame of the daffodil against the ashen March,
The lit match of a connection with a stranger.
Being seen in your striving,
even in some offhand way
(the nurse taking vitals who said: “good job, Mom,” having no idea the width of the soft landing she’d just spread beneath me).
A familiar face when you need one,
The first full draft of anything,
The tall, cold glass of water.
The “there, there” of bedtime rain,
and the damp earth of your own backyard the next morning,
its familiar nave now-dressed in dew and petrichor:
The routine left gleaming.
The Angelus of the sunup bird,
the loyal creak of the floor board or mattress, exactly where it’s always been,
calling us to our attentions:
Wake up, wake up,
to the slow, smiling slant of this sunrise

+Another take on the everyday. An ampersand! I’m writing my way around its metamorphoses.
Shopping Break.
+Perfect pullover for right now. Just love that pastel butter yellow color!
+One of my favorite swimsuits from last year in a fantastic new pattern — the fit is DIVINE (has that magical material that doesn’t cut in anywhere, just feels great on, and has the perfect amount of coverage without being too uptight). They released a matching “rash guard jacket” you can wear over it, too! So interesting and different.
+Doen’s second spring drop arrived yesterday — j’adore this skirt!
+Gorgeous new arrival at Ann Mashburn. Also love these raffia mules, and these floral track shorts!?
+Everyone’s favorite wraps, restocked in all the best colors. My mom gave me one for Christmas and I love it! A nice, roomy size, and divinely soft. That pink color!
+This tee in the blue and white stripe is one of my long-time favorites. Its cut a little wider at the hem / waist and has a nice over-long length and stretchy-soft pima cotton that make it so divine to wear.
+Pretty striped spring blouse.
+If you need a last-minute dress for spring break: this, this, this!
+Several of us ordered this cocoon quilt from new-to-me brand Thuma as a spring alt to heavier textured bed blankets from the winter. Since then I’ve been doing a little research on the brand and have discovered people LOVE this side table, which can be used as a kind of lap desk while on a coach, a chic-er “TV dinner tray”-type table, something that can repurposed in so many different rooms for different needs. I even thought it would be good as a table by a nursing chair, you know? When you need water, iPad, bottles, snacks, and can pull it over your lap a little more easily if need be? Chic minimalist design, too, and lots of wood washes.
+Cutest shorts to pair with a white tee/tank this summer, and would also look adorable with a chunky rollneck this spring, as we transition to warmer weather. Also loving this chartreuse skirt (!) — I mentioned just last week that I consider that color the height of glamor.
+Spring home upgrades: this diffuser for your front hallway (smells SO GOOD — we have this in our powder bath and I’ve given it as a housewarming gift), these kitchen towels, this hand soap.
+Loving this new “art deco” line from Framebridge — especially this sage green “poirot” style which looks vintage and you can add the coolest limited-edition mats with star patterns and other insignia (!!! — I’m screenshotting at the bottom of this post because you have to sort of navigate through the website to see it), and this gilded style, which would be perfect for spotlighting an old map, a hand-written letter, or any other memorabilia.
+I ordered these embroidered pants!
+Pretty colors for spring leggings — two other athletic buys Magpies have been snapping up this week: this PERFECT top layer and this striped long-sleeved tee.
+My kids LOVE these sneakers (they wear them daily, and they HOLD UP) and they are on sale in the red color.

Thuma is just an amazing brand! We have the bed in a lovely Scandi wash, the couch, and coffee table. What sets them apart, imo, is that everything can be assembled with no tools. But the items are heavy and substantial. We also have the linen sheets and quilt-love!
Ooh thanks for sharing this! Actually since writing this I ordered that little side table in the gray. I feel like this might be the beginning of a new love affair…!
