Big Bold Summer.

I love not only the bright colors out at the moment, but the BIG designs and statements on offer this season — I’m talking frivolous handbags in exaggeratedly small sizes, platform shoes, and skirt-top sets! Below, some of my favorite BOLD finds for summer 2022, almost all of them priced under $150. Consider, for example, this $90 woven bag from an Etsy seller in SUCH great colors,

P.S. More bold and happy finds here.

    1. Hi Ellen – You know, I agree with you. Nothing has felt right today.

I have had a policy for a long time of publishing my way through tough times with my scheduled content. I understand this can feel tone-deaf to some and a relief to others. I empathize with all sides, but this, after a lot of reflection, remains my chosen approach.

I know you will able to find a supportive place to discuss, react, donate, etc today – I am doing the same.

  1. Good Morning – Beautiful colors for sure. However as someone who is not young and petite like you (you always looks beautiful) …I cannot wear all the dresses with cutouts, no backs (I need a bra), multiple mix of puffy sleeves/smocking/tiering, cropped tops and feel comfortable. Added to this…somewhat of a limited budget so going for items from companies like MMLaFleur are not an option. I have picked up a few cotton midi dresses from Anthro, Target and Nordstrom. Years ago I used to find great shirt dresses from Talbots but their quality has decreased (prices have not) and feel its become pretty “frumpy”. I know Boden has some possible options but also tired of buy/return/buy return to find things that both fit and that I love.
No real point to my morning whining except to say I feel frustrated and sad shopping these days. Thanks for listening.

    1. Hi Nancy! I, too, am tired of paying upfront just to try clothes on, instead of just running to the mall like in the old days. And waiting for returns to process and keeping track of the refunds I’m expecting! Ugh. I do encourage you to try Boden, though, if you haven’t already…I have had good luck with them for many years. And they frequently send discount codes or vouchers!

      1. I agree, Stephanie, sometimes it feels like I live at the UPS office! Agree that Boden is a great option! xx

    2. Hi Nancy – I totally get it! I’m sorry you’re feeling that way. I will put some thought into this and see if I can come up with a roundup of great dresses that fit some of the criteria you’ve outlined here. There does feel like a scarcity of simple, well-cut, attractive dresses. Have you looked at Brooks Brothers lately? They have had some home runs and frequently run sales that bring their dresses down to around $100. I will be on the lookout for you.

      xx
