A couple of great early-access sales launched today — interestingly, I’m noticing a lot of brands are spreading out their promotions this year. Some don’t start until next week, but it’s really a cascade between now and Black Friday proper. The early sales I’m shopping:

01. Julia Amory — Early access to 30% off a selection of pieces with JAVIP30. This includes her popular Julia pants (might only apply to select colors, FYI), dramatic Luna skirt, patterned jackets, and her Montauk vest. I already ordered own this dress and it is fantastic and somehow suitable year-round — it’s already on sale, and with the extra discount, it’s under $100!
02. SoldOutNYC — 25% off my favorite basics. Best time to buy their “iconically soft” basic tees — these are the tees I’m wearing 90% of the time beneath any knit. Also love their luxe everything shirts (look like they cost 2-3x the price — high-quality, sheeny cotton with a dramatic shape) and cashmere turtlenecks.
03. Oak Essentials — 25% off. I’m a new and enormous fan of this luxe skincare brand (Jenni Kayne’s sister company). I love their foaming bath oil (so luxurious — this would be an elegant gift, too, as the packaging is gorgeous) and I have been applying their bestselling moisture rich balm at night. I keep it on my nightstand. My skin gets SO dry during the winter. I also heard that their luxe Advent Calendar is going to be specially priced at $262. They generously sent me one of these and it is full of the most beautiful travel sizes of their skincare products and a couple of Jenni Kayne add-ons (socks, etc!).
04. AYR — Big final sale section, including our Legend jeans we’ve been loving! Run TTS. (The first time you pull them on, you’ll say ‘wait are these too tight?’ but they meld/mold to you without stretching out TOO much.) A great everyday jean. Their “Half Day” shirts (sort of like a cropped Early Morning Tee) are included, too, but selling FAST. If you love that style, Richer Poorer has a similar shirt 30% off right now worth a gander. (BTW, Richer Poorer just merged with the swimwear brand Andie, which I discovered last summer and LOVE their Malibu style, which is fairly full-coverage but also really sexy? A good one to buy for vacation with the husband. But I believe they are going to be running a Black Friday sale starting tomorrow so wait to order that suit!)
05. Ulta — 20% off Dyson with code DYSON20; must be a member to access, but joining is free. I’ve been hunting for a good deal on the hair dryer and am not sure any promotion will be better next week; I’m tempted to pounce now.
06. Kilte — up to 60% off gorgeous knitwear sitewide. I added this gorgeous red knit jacket to my holiday closet this season, and it’s included! I also own and love this fair isle and this half-zip, and their knit sets are such an elegant choice for travel and lounge!
07. Colleen Rothschild — 30% off sitewide. Going to try the luminous eye cream a friend raved about. I know I just said I’ve all but given up on eye creams and have switched to eye patches most mornings but I was intrigued by her vigor on this front.
08. Neiman Marcus — a big designer sale happening with mysteriously deep discounts, like 50% off this Chloe bag and these Le Monde Beryls?!

Hi Jen! If you could only choose one pair of jeans (is that the worst question for a magpie?), would you go for AYR or Rag and Bone’s Sofie?
This is so tough, but let me guide you with some questions…
1) If you’re looking for a casual, everyday jean and like a classic fit — AYR Legends.
2) If you’re looking for a jean you can dress up or down — get the Sofie. More versatile.
3) If you are a petite and DON’T want to hem, get the Sofie.
4) If you aren’t sure about the classic fit / prefer a wide leg — Sofie!

I am in a really weird phase physically which I am trying to accept — NONE of my old jeans fit (including something like 3 Madewell pairs, Mother, Pistola… yikes). Age 45 was like a switch unfortunately and I feel like I went up 2 dress sizes and 2-3 denim sizes seemingly overnight with no other change in eating habits, lifestyle, etc. Estrogen decline is so fun. Not to scare anyone, haha. So I want to be cautious in investing in more clothes in case my body keeps changing — hence the choice between AYR or Sofie, not both.

I feel this so deeply! I’ve had something similar happen; I saw a reel from a doctor who specializes in perimenopause who said “doing what’s worked in terms of fitness, diet, etc for your whole life will no longer “work” in perimenopause.” !! Frustrating!!

Hi Jen- I’m planning to order a kilte set for an upcoming flight. Curious what size you would recommend- debating a 0 or 1 and wasn’t sure if they shrink at all.
I would go with the 1 – my set runs pretty snug and I wish I’d gone up to a 1.
