The Skirt I’m Eyeing for Thanksgiving Dinner…and Other Fab Options for the Fall Season.

By: Jen Shoop

Very ready for skirt and boot season! A favorite silhouette! And there are so many gorgeous options out right now. I currently have this Ulla J. beauty in my cart as a Thanksgiving option. (More sizes here and here.) I love the rich print and elegant, lean silhouette. Imagine with a burgundy or chocolate brown sweater or turtleneck and suede boots!

Before we get into my full skirt edit, a reminder that Shopbop’s fall event sale ends tonight! Last call for THE jeans you’ll be wearing on season, up to 25% off (<< these have been the breakaway bestseller from Magpie readers from this promotion!). The dark rinse denim is deeply on trend (they also come in a great washed black!), and the unfinished hem means us petites can just trim to the desired length. Alternately, go with their cropped variation on this jean.

The other top seller: my ride or die Agolde Rileys! Perfect everyday jean. In the cropped length, I do not need to hem (I’m 5’0). I take my larger size in these for a slightly looser fit. I’ve kept these jeans for years and wear them heavily season after season! A true classic.

Last little sale note: I saw a bunch of you ordered this night cream (viral for a reason — contains “Myoxinol,” commonly referred to as “nature’s botox”) via BlueMercury’s sale last weekend — if you missed that promo, you can get it on sale at Shopbop right now!

Back to skirts: a few other top picks for the season below, in a range of different textures and fabrics —

PAISLEY SKIRT // CORD SKIRT // SILK SLIP SKIRT

01. I adore this olive circle skirt. Insanely versatile. My mom ordered this in the navy!

02. Stunning paisley pattern on this. This one’s in my cart!

03. Another great Thanksgiving-appropriate patterned skirt — this one with an ultra-comfortable shirred waistband, and under $160!

04. Timeless cotton poplin — available in multiple colors. The chocolate brown is gorgiiiine.

05. This Leset satin skirt is stunning. A friend of mine owns this and the drape is next level.

06. Hunter Bell magic! She always does the best patterns. Love this navy plaid.

07. Also into the navy and camel combo on this kilt, which has come into and out of stock several times this season! Nano-trend for sure.

08. This Julia Amory wrap skirt is in my closet and one of my absolute favorites. Works in any season! Pair with a tank/the matching shell in summer or style with boots and a cardigan in fall. Love love.

09. Stunning silhouette from Veronica Beard. Love the rich chocolate pattern.

10. Unique asymmetrical silhouette on this paisley wonder!

11. Perfect fall wool skirt. Feels very “dark academia.” Would play beautifully with a chunky knit or silk blouse — texture contrast!

12. Hunter plaid skirt. I’m telling you, these big tartan wool skirts are having a moment. Very RL-circa-1990-coded. What I imagine people like Andie McDowell and Martha Stewart wore back in the day.

13. The fringe detail on this mini skirt is beyond. I actually saw a mom wear this to a mom’s night out event for my daughter’s school — she looked stunning! She paired hers with a crisp white button down.

14. I ordered this fabulous statement skirt with no immediate plans to wear it. It is SO GOOD. Maybe one of my book events? Why not!

15. Button corduroy midi skirt. Love the tailoring and would style as shown on site — with a tall heeled boot and a cashmere sweater.

16. Chocolate brown pleated skirt — a Jenni Kayne icon. Currently 25% off.

17. Party-ready wrap skirt. Gorgeous purchase as we head toward holiday.
