Speaking of embroidered children’s finds: this bubble (!!) and — I was so startled when I came across these Guatemalan worry dolls, which one of my good childhood friends introduced me to when I was little. According to tradition, children tell their worries to these dolls before placing them under their pillows at night — then wake with newfound wisdom and peace. I think we could all use some worry dolls…

P.S. More microtrends I love this season.

P.P.S. ICYMI: ROOP BAGS!!! And some other great re-stocks/sale scores here.

  1. I have the Target eyelet dress and it’s really pretty! Target has been killing it lately. I also love that it’s 100% cotton, including the lining. And, I’m not sure if this is advertised on the website, but it has pockets!!! Why don’t all dresses (especially full skirt styles) have pockets by default? It would have been a definite keeper especially for the price, but I’m learning I need to be wary of puff sleeves (except if it’s in a sheer material like the Staud toile dress with the organza sleeves!), as sometimes they look very exaggerated on me and make my shoulders look disproportionately broad for my short stature.

There’s something very… Katherine Hepburn about khaki/taupe! Others might find it boring but I agree that it looks so elegant, in an understated way. I love it paired with faux tortoise-shell accessories.

    Love all these picks!

    1. So agree with all of these observations…khaki with tortoise, the problem of proportions with puffed sleeves, the need for pockets (random but I find that I especially favor my Recliner PJs and my J Crew dreamy joggers because they have pockets and I can therefore slip my phone in my pocket while carrying Hill around). That Target dress is so cute!!

      xx

  2. Guatemalan worry dolls! Oh my, this mention brought me back. I used them regularly when I was a child, along with “guardian angel” pins, in an effort to combat my high anxiety levels. I do remember them helping!

ALL the heart eyes for that Aje eyelet number — I love a good broderie anglaise moment! — and I’m with you on loving tan/khaki, though I have to stick to either super light or much darker renditions of the hue, as the middling shades tend to wash me right out.

I’m loving the embroidery trend as well — I really love traditional Mexican embroidery (Mi Golondrina adapts this style so well!) and I’m loving the All Things Mochi number you posted.

    xx

    1. Those worry dolls – so sweet. What a thoughtful way to help children cope with anxiety, too.

  3. I also bought the white eyelet shirt dress. Thank you for the recommendation, I love it!

  4. Ordered that white eyelet dress from Target yesterday and hope it works out – thought it may look good for new baby pictures as I currently don’t like anything in my closet.

And I love all the embroidered pieces. I thought of trying to embroider my own, but maybe that’s a level of DIY I best not get into right now, hah.

    1. WOW – even the thought that you might attempt to embroider your own is beyond me. Yay on the dress!
