Sales + Budget Buys

Micropost: Extra 70% Off J. Crew Sale.

By: Jen Shoop

In the melee of Prime Day*, you may not have seen that J. Crew is basically giving away clothes for free by offering an extra 70% off sale prices with code 48HOURS, through tonight. This is when I stock up on lots of basics — I ordered a few of these tees ($5 with code) and these ribbed tanks ($7 with code), and this ribbed striped tee ($8 with code), as I can never have enough of them.

Major steal: have you tried their plunge one-piece?! It’s my “go-to-when-I’m-not-feeling-a-million-bucks” suit. It is SO comfortable and flattering, and the website describes it perfectly as “the goldilocks of coverage — not too much and not too little.” For me, that means a low vee but full rear coverage, which this suit nails. Perfect basic to have on hand when you’re not feeling like a Hunza G moment. It’s currently under $30 in several great colors.

Also worth a gander —

Lots of shoes included. If you run, you might luck out and score one of the final pairs of these fab slides for $24 or these Mansur-Gavriel-esque woven flats. (Comparison.)

*I also did want to mention that my three favorite Prime Day purchases have been this RMS Beauty mascara (somehow almost 60% off), this portable charger (so slick-looking!), and these children’s goggles. I had seen a lot of those goggles at the pool this summer, and some of the moms were saying that the double elastic straps are much easier to get on/off (and don’t snag in hair as much) than the standard thick rubber one. Several Magpies wrote in to endorse them, too. One said her daughter HATES anything around her face/head but tolerates these easily — they are comfortable for kids.

Last but not least, my favorite sunglasses — the ones I own in three colors — are on sale for $50. Get the caramel! You’ll be surprised how much you reach for them, and they add just a little OOMPH to any outfit. The shape is fantastic. All my Prime Day finds here.

P.S. You all also loved the Doen sale yesterday. I bought this, and a ton of you bought the striped dress I also ordered last week (under $70!)

P.P.S. You’re where you need to be.

P.P.P.S. Great travel gear for families.

  1. The mascara’s regular price is actually only 15. Sometimes Amazon inflates how much the items cost

    1. Hi! Always good to cross-check as I’ve accidentally purchased items marked WAY up. But in this case, the retail price of the mascara is $26-$28 elsewhere — I think you’re seeing the price for the travel size, which is $15.

Thanks for prompting me to check!
