WHERE IS YOUR WHIMSY?: There is room for all kinds of kinds, but this meme made me laugh. I am always drawn to and delighted by people with unexpected quirks and hobbies — yes, I do want to know about your extensive collection of washi tape!

NEW MUSIC: What a week for new music! Like everyone, I’m listening to the new Taylor Swift on repeat, but did you also catch the drop of Olivia Dean’s full “Art of Loving” album?! OBSESSED. What a talent! Sometimes she reminds me of Amy Winehouse, other times Adele, and sometimes she’s just her entirely her own. Love. What else are we listening to thi sfall?
ANDION CLOTHING: I was so charmed by this brocade jacket with little velvet bows from Spanish brand Andion! All items are made to order by a mother-daughter team. Check out their collection here.

A LITTLE SLICE OF ROMANCE: Transfixed by this little video behind a Vogue shoot, featuring Kendall Jenner and inspired by “The Notebook.” (And, who is this Matthew Noskza? The cheekbones are giving young Brad Pitt.)

THINGS I SEND MY BEST FRIEND: My best friend is a sharp-as-a-tack finance bosswoman in NYC (also the best hang ever) and I had to send this to her:

CARLEY FORTUNE FAN-GIRLING: LOVED these two Instagram posts from one of my favorite romance authors, Carley Fortune, announcing a new book and a screen adaptation! Five books in five years is no joke. Her latest book was such a joy to read over the summer. Speaking of romance, my sister took me to the most charming romance bookstore in Cambridge called Lovestruck. OMG! I could have spent hours poring over the curation and especially the staff notes sprinkled throughout the store. They really know how to entice a romance lover, and even have the books sectioned off into subgenres. Just delightful. I picked up this, on the rec of my sister, and this, a staff pick! (A literature professor and a grumpy sunshine bookstore owner — swoon!)

A NEW MONTH TO DIG DEEPER INTO HABITS: The turn to October was welcome. September was a little choppy with school transitions and stricter school-year routines and schedules; I’m looking to October as a settling-in and settling-down. I’m also eager to clip even more firmly into my wellness habits with a fresh page of my habit tracker. I’m currently closing in on week three of one of Heather Robertson’s 12-Week Programs and determined to see it all the way through. When I’ve embarked on these in the past, I’ve always said, “I feel stronger but I don’t see a huge change.” But then I look back at the photos of myself from those periods and notice how toned my arms and legs look! I am a believer. Keeping track of my commitment helps.
BTW – I assume we all have Stakt mats at this point, but if you don’t — I LOVE MINE. This was a Magpie reader rec a few years ago and it truly elevates and enhances my strength and core training exercise program. It’s padded — so gentler on joints, back, wrists, etc while doing push-ups and crunches — plus it folds up and can double as a yoga block or be used for calf raises. It also folds up neatly!

EYEING + BUYING:
Did you see Alex Mill and Margaux collaborated?! Two of my favorite brands — they feel meant for each other with their upscale takes on classics. I love these booties (you know I’m a fan of the kitten heel, and it’s in the perfect chocolate brown!), and these satin mules are a 10/10 too.
My fringe obsession continues — for $59! (More of this microtrend here.). While you’re at Zara, snag these adorable earmuffs for your little lady!
Two designer splurges on my radar: this Gucci knit and these Prada shearling slides. Gorgeous.
Barrel leg cords from Madewell! These are SO good.
My favorite Boden find…ever? Reversible shearling gilet. You can wear with jeans, over dresses, with athletic wear!
Our favorite bras are buy one, get one free — OMG. Run TTS and wear like nothing but provide shape and support. Just the best.
Wrote a few times about this, but I’ve discovered eye patches work much better than eye cream in terms of moisturizing and brightening the area. I have been using these ones from Peter Thomas Roth but a Magpie rec’d these as a great, less expensive option so I ordered those, too! I honestly use almost every morning now!
Two fun jewelry finds at good prices: this Erin McDermott gumball necklace ($64) and these studded Mignonne Gavigan earrings, which I wore this week to a cocktail party!
My sister was raving about this nail bonding treatment from Epres — I knew of them from their hair bonding treatment (which I use a few times a year, usually after highlighting my hair). The latter is 20% off right now!
Nothing like a fresh notebook for a fresh month.
Love the rich motif and turtleneck silhouette of this Cara Cara dress. Good Thanksgiving contender!
