In No Particular Order

By: Jen Shoop

I put together a very scattered, end-of-week covet list last Friday, and it now seems uber hodge-podge.  Forgive.

COVET1I am not a graphic-tee wearer, even though I’ve seen it done to great effect.  Slash I know J. Crew is  forcing me to wear one at all times.  That being said, I thought these cheeky Brian Lichenteberg tees ($60) emulating the Hermes logo were eye-catching…maybe over a bikini?Screen Shot 2013-08-09 at 9.55.23 AM Screen Shot 2013-08-09 at 9.55.31 AM

COVET2Not sure if you’re familiar with the Cartier “nail” bracelet…

nailQuickly gaining the same sort of cult status that the ubiquitous LOVE bracelet has earned.  Get the look for much, much, much less by stacking a couple of these puppies ($20 each):

porceCOVET4There’s nothing to say about this intensely-saturated dress ($90), except: I love it.  (Insert Icona Pop jam.)  And I’d wear it with these enorma-studs (on sale today at Gilt for $69):

…aand would finish with clean-lined heeled sandals in nude/blush ($80):

COVET6Speaking of animalia, do I or do I not need one of these antelope busts in one of my gallery wall clusters ($65 for gold; $89 for white — I’m leaning towards the gilded one)?  Hm.  Mr. Magpie is groaning, I’m sure — I have gone a little cray on the nature decorating side of things in our home, having several antlers, horns, bird prints, dog sketches, foo dogs, etc., lining the walls and shelves of our home.  And yet…

GOLDCOVET7I have been on the hunt for a vintage suzani or dhurrie to hang somewhere in my home, or maybe to use as a throw over the back of a chair or even over a coffee table.  I feel like it will lend a nice global, lived-in feel to some corner or nook of our house (as yet TBD), because my style tends toward the refined at the moment, and everyone could use a little color/surprise.  For inspo, check out some of the beautiful styling by Jamie Meares (for example, see here — almost every corner of the house has some vintage fabric).  I l.o.v.e. the color and composition of this quilt (on sale for $147), but it just does NOT go with the color palettes in the bedrooms of our apartment right now.

And, P.S., this rug still haunts me, but I know Mr. M will go bananas if I introduce any more pink or purple into our home.  I have exhibited laudable restraint in the common areas of our home — dining room, living room, kitchen — there is not a scrap of pink to be seen anywhere.  The bedrooms, on the other hand…but I digress.  Please purchase that rug if you are not bound by the laws of gender neutrality in your living spaces.

COVET8

Come to mama, little ones ($358).

COVET9I could totes see these brass critters ($98) doing something wonderful to a bookcase with lots of pink-and-red spined books.

COVET10

Um, enough said ($800).  This will one day live in a Mrs. Magpie office.
