Amalfi Coast Wanderlust.

By: Jen Shoop

Have you ever been to the Amalfi Coast? I’ve mentioned a few times that Mr. Magpie and I would love to take a vacation, just the two of us, to Italy in the not too distant future, and — besides making a trek to Frosolone, where my Italian great-grandparents were born and raised — I would love to make a stop on the Amalfi Coast. Below, a few pieces that are speaking to me inspired by just such an itinerary stop. (And if we can’t make it there, we can always buy the gorgeous Assouline coffee table book showcasing showstopping photographs of it! More great coffee table books here.)

  1. Aaaahhh this is one of my dream destinations too! One day…

Love all the picks here, but I HAD to share this amazing swimsuit that I’ve been eyeing — I’m hoping it comes out in a different color though because I don’t think I can pull off this shade. It’s from Andrea Iyamah, and it’s a one piece that you can wear in something like 6 different ways. SO chic!

(I should also note that this is a Black-owned business!)

    1. Wow – so clever!!! Love the versatility. Like six swimsuits in one. Thank you for sharing!!

      xx

  2. I love this vibe and these picks β€” Amalfi perfection! I’ve never been to southern Italy and it’s on my list for SURE. I’m hoping you get to go soon and post some recs for us! πŸ™‚

    xx

  3. I love the Amalfi Coast! I’ve been 3 times. I studied in Rome in college and went with my BFF from childhood for a weekend. We stayed in a convent (!!) with lemon trees in the courtyard- for the same cost as a hostel. Yes please! My husband and I went back after I finished graduate school. We stayed on Positano but did day trips to the small towns and Capri. Then I went back with 40 of my high school Latin/Art students (!!) for our spring break trip to Florence, Rome, and Amalfi. I lived to tell the tale and loved each trip in different ways! I cannot wait to take my children someday.

  4. The Amalfi Coast has our heart. After marrying in Florence in 2015, my husband and I honeymooned in Capri for a week. We also returned to the Amalfi Coast in 2019 for another fabulous trip (who knew that would end up being our special β€œ5-year” anni trip since Covid had other ideas the following year!).
For anyone looking to splurge, Monastero Santa Rosa is one of the most fabulous places we have ever stayed around the globe… quite possibly our favorite.

Though our travels have slowed down significantly due to Covid and starting a family (a new type of exciting adventure!), we are constantly reminded of our favorite place, the Amalfi Coast, as we snuggle our now nearly 6-month old daughter, Capri. πŸ™‚

  5. The Amalfi Coast is on my bucket list. I have Grace Kelly-esque fantasies of securing my hair in a Parisian scarf and wearing big sunglasses to enjoy touring the craggy seaside hills in a convertible coupe.
