The Magpie Edit: Edition 20.

Everything I'm wearing, buying, and obsessing over at the moment.
popular womens fashion finds

+MINI’S BASKETBALL WARDROBE. I mentioned earlier this week that mini is now playing basketball and taking hip-hop dance, and I’m enrolling her in a few camps this summer with athletic components, and she was woefully under-outfitted for any of it. All of my cute athletic wear finds for girls here, but the specific items I bought, most of which are seen in the top left corner above:

PERFORMANCE TEES IN GREAT COLORS

PASTEL CAMP SOCKS

PATTERNED SHORTS

BIKE SHORTS

PASTEL SWEATSHIRT + SWEATPANTS

NIKE TEES

PERSONALIZED POUCH

+COURANT MAGSAFE CHARGER. I pretty much have to keep my phone on a charging pad when not in use since I use it so much throughout the day for Magpie (and beyond). This one from Courant is so gorgeous — I don’t mind having it out on my desktop? The brand generously sent me this charging pad and I love that I can keep both my AirPods and my smartphone charging on it simultaneously without any plugging-in. You can also get these monogrammed — could be a handsome gift for a techie spouse. You can see mine above alongside my Appointed notebook, which truly sparks joy for me every time I use it. I love the linen cover!

+CHIMI SUNGLASSES. I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of a pair of clear sunglasses from Chimi I bought a few years ago — they feel fresh and different. Mine is style 005, which they appear to no longer make in the clear colorway I own, but this pair is very similar. They look a lot to me like styles from Garrett Leight, but a fraction of the price.

+MIRTH CAFTAN. This caftan from Mirth’s new collection stopped me in my tracks. I love the details! It looks like something you might pick up from a small boutique in Italy or something. These are the kinds of dresses I live in during the summer — midi/maxi-length, full coverage for ease of wear, a belt at the waist for shape. I would pair this with my Hermes Orans and be on my way.

+LARROUDE RAFFIA MULES. Cannot stop thinking of these raffia mules for spring/summer. Perfect height and style to pair with breezy sundresses. Would also look so cute with white denim and a floaty top.

+DAVINES OI CONDITIONER. I am absolutely losing my mind over this conditioner — like, genuinely cannot wait to wash my hair in order to use it. The scent is beyond and my hair has never — never! — felt softer or more detangled. I’m in love.

+CROPPED PUFFER VEST. How good is this $36 cropped puffer to throw on over your workout gear? More great affordable finds (many fitness oriented) from Amazon here.

+BEYOND YOGA SET. Currently in my cart: these leggings and this cropped tank in the chic navy color. I own a few of their cropped tanks and LOVE them. They are a really soft cotton. Would love to buy these sets in, like, every color…

+MIRANDA LAMBERT “PALOMINO” ALBUM. I am a big back-in-the-day-Miranda fan. I listened to her first two albums, “Kerosene” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” about a million times each. I distinctly remember listening to “Kerosene” on repeat in my garden-level apartment on R Street in Georgetown, while pursuing an M.A. in literature. The lyrics are evocative, inviting nostalgia and memory. I feel like she drifted from her roots a bit too much for my taste in her more recent discography but “Palomino” reclaims more of the true country feel of her earlier music. I love (!) “In His Arms.” Wow!

+LAKE PAJAMAS VALENTINE’S DAY JAMMIES. I bought mini the matching set and they are hiding in my closet until we get closer to the holiday — but I couldn’t help but break mine out! This is my favorite style of pajama they make (long top / shorts) and the pattern is so charming. These were generously gifted by the brand, but I have purchased many pairs on my own because I straight-up love the brand.

+VALENTINE’S DAY BOOKS FOR LITTLES. I generally give my children a themed book at every holiday, and Love Is a Tutu (already on our bookshelves) is a cute pick for a little love. In my cart for this Valentine’s Day: this one for mini; this one for micro. More picks below.

+BRIO SET. My son has been really into his Brio train set recently and I love the way he set up these bridges.

+ROLLING BINS. These rolling, lidded bins from Container Store are perfect for stowing bulky toy sets — we use them for Duplos, Magnatiles, Brios, Barbies, etc.

+HUNZA G PAMELA SWIMSUIT. This suit is at the top of my list for the season ahead. I can’t tell if I want the millennial pink one or the classic black. I personally prefer the thinner straps on this style, but this thicker-strapped Hunza G (20% off with code YOUROCK — these do sell out as the season progresses, fyi) is the iconic one that everyone obsesses over. More of my swimwear picks for the season ahead here, many on sale!

    1. Hi Angelyn! Good to hear from you! You know, two other Magpies pointed me in the direction of that album and I have it queued up to listen to this afternoon! Thanks for chiming in!!

      xx

      1. I realized after I listened to the new album that a few of the songs are polished up from the Marfa Tapes!

I also have a random question you or someone else might know. Is it possible to get a thick wool sweater altered/tailored? Say if I ordered one from Etsy but the sleeves are too long and bulky, but return shipping is to the UK?

        1. I think it depends on the type of sweater/stitch BUT definitely worth taking to a tailor to evaluate. Or just wear with sleeves pushed up to elbow for a kind of slouchy/cool look?

          xx

          1. Thank you for answering! The sleeves were too bulky to push up, but I took it to a tailor and they sounded like they could shorten and take in the sleeves! Worth a try, since I think the tailoring will be in the ballpark of return shipping for a heavy sweater to the UK.
