Chic Beach Attire.

By: Jen Shoop

When I put together my “2022 Bestsellers by Month” post a week or two ago, I was surprised by the fact that many of us bought this fabulous swimsuit from Maygel Coronel in February. I wasn’t planning to go anywhere, but I was thinking ahead to the summer season — though maybe more of you all had actual getaway plans and were able to flaunt that statement in real time. I’ve been surprised by how many GREAT deals there are on swimwear at the moment — I suppose brands are offloading last year’s styles in preparation for the summer ahead. You can get a Maygel Coronel for around $100 here, and my favorite Marysia suit for around the same price here.

Last summer, I spent a lot of time at the pool, as I had both of my children in private swimming lessons on and off throughout the summer, and then we were away for a week at a house with a pool, etc, etc! I was surprised to find that this J. Crew suit was one of my favorites for the season, and it’s currently under $100. I sized up one size from my true size (took a 2 instead of a 0) and the fit was perfection for me. I loved the neckline and the thin straps, and it has a decent amount of coverage in the rear — I have to say that some of the designer suits are just too skimpy for my taste (I’m looking at you, Agua Bendita). This J. Crew was my favorite for swim lesson days because I could jump in the water, chase the children, etc, without fearing indecent exposure.

This year, I have my heart set on a Hunza G after SO many Magpies have raved about it. (P.S., for my expecting mamas, my sister wore hers all through pregnancy and now wears PP without any permanent stretching out.) This is the classic/iconic style that everyone goes wild over (20% off with code YOUROCK) but I’m a bit more drawn to the Pamela style with thinner straps — I feel like the thin straps are a bit daintier. I’ll probably get it in black but am tempted by this Gwyneth Paltrow pink, and this slightly bolder pink color is only $100 here. A variation on their classic style with a slightly different texture is on sale for 50% off here! BUT, ALERT — Target has a $40 style that is very similar to Hunza G out this season! Worth a try. Love that sage green color.

I also wanted to mention that Hill House’s swim skirt sold out last year — I wouldn’t normally reach for a swim skirt, but this one is REALLY cute and sporty. Pair with the matching top.
