Jen’s Weekend Drafts: Five Things Every Room Needs.

By: Jen Shoop

Image above via. Love that skirted sink!

+FIVE THINGS EVERY ROOM NEEDS: I loved this breakdown from Annie Meyers (Nancy Meyers’ daughter)! I especially loved the note that — when in question, go up in rug size versus down. A great rule of thumb.

+A DREAMY RHODE ISLAND HOTEL REOPENING: Mentally, I’m at Castle Inn Hill (which just reopened for the summer), reading one of these books in an adirondack chair. Can you even deal with that view from the room?! Eeek. I can almost smell the salty air. Pinning this for use in a future short story.

+SPOUSE NICKNAME EVOLUTION: How accurate is this post?! I’ve answered to the weirdest names over my marriage — lol! For example, when we were first married, Landon called me “wife” (as in, “what does wife want?”) >> “woof” >> “woofatroopa” >> wooftron” >> “tron.” Landon was “boons” and sometimes “beansie” for awhile, and I can’t even retrace the steps. LOL! What’s a weird evolved nickname you’ve worn for a time? (I loved this comment on the post: “I started calling my fiancée booby. That morphed into boobis. That morphed into Bobby. That morphed into Robert. Now she just answers to Robert. Her name is Katie.”)

+A PERFECT MARINIERE: Another AYR tee to fixate upon…they just get it, don’t they?

+SOMETHING THAT MADE ME LOL: This parody of a luxury salesperson in France. The eyes! The whisper-voice! The slow sashay in the background on hard-wood floor! LOL. I have definitely experienced this persona.

+WEEKEND FINDS:

+Did you see Tuckernuck’s collab with Nantucket reds?! Love everything, but especially this oversized button-down to wear over swimsuits or tucked into white jeans. Iconic!

+J. Crew’s latest drop was EPIC. My favorites here, but spotlight on this sure-to-sell-out under-$200 lobster cardigan.

+The most fabulous party paper products!

+Love the length, color, and drawstring on these lounge shorts. Pair with this knit tank for an elevated twist on a lounge look.

+Chic statement paracord necklace! Speaking of paracord: this fab woven tote with a paracord handle!

+Perfect pairing with the AYR mariniere: Buck Mason shorts!

+Swooning over this statement shawl sweater. Alanui vibes. And I loveeee this bandana shawl. Ordered!

It’s the same with nicknames for kids. My youngest is very opinionated, hard to please, and sweetly prickly at times. He’s a good sasser. So I love my husband’s ironic nickname for him all the more. It started as “fuzzy.” In response to something cute, it’s “fuzzer” or “fuzzbear” and sometimes when my husband’s a little exasperated: “FUZZ!” Something about the double z captures his zing!
