I’m going to share a full post on this theme later this week, but on Instagram over the weekend, I shared a draft list of “things that feel like a fresh slate,” and at the top of that list was getting peeling, three-week-old gel polish removed and replacing with non-gel, barely-there, “ballet slippers” (by Essie). (And if you’re not a true manicure gal, this illuminating nail concealer is INCREDIBLE. Gives you a slight sheen / glow but requires virtually no precision in application. Swipe on and go.) Reinvention via manicure.
One of you responded with a fabulously specific “fresh slate” feeling: lighting a new candle in a freshly-cleaned room. Ooh! Sent a shiver of goodness right down my spine. Level up even further if your room has those fresh vacuum markings on the carpet. (BTW, this is the best vacuum. I stand by this after trying many other brands.)
A couple of items I’m eyeing and buying (or already own and am trotting out this week) to enhance the “turning over a new leaf” energy:

LEFT TO RIGHT: KOALA ECO LAUNDRY DETERGENT (SMELLS DIVINE AND REALLY WORKS) // ROSEMARY SERUM (I SWEAR BY THIS FOR HEALTHY, FULL HAIR) // SALT SCALP SCRUB // FRESH STACK OF TOWELS // BIG EFFING CLIP // CHIMNEY FIRE CANDLE // FOOT RESCUE (SUPER DENSE BUT EFFECTIVE — I APPLY AT NIGHT BEFORE SOCKS) // FRESH BEDDING TO PAIR WITH OUR NEW BED (SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE END OF JANUARY) // CANVAS ROLLING LAUNDRY HAMPER*
*I really wanted to buy one of these but my laundry room is configured in such a way that there would be no convenient place to store it when not in use / it would block the door. Drat! Instead I ordered a few extra laundry baskets. I mentioned this recently, but when I completed the petty frustration exercise I shared here, I realized I have too few laundry baskets and am almost always leaving a heap or two on the floor outside of our laundry room. Problem solved! Also, a sweet and thoughtful surprise from my husband: a trash can in the laundry room. I’d never realized this but I am always making little excursions to neighboring bathrooms and bedrooms to dispose of the laundry lint! This was so thoughtful.

LEFT TO RIGHT: THE BEST NOTEBOOKS // PERCEY GLASSES (MY FAVORITE — THE NEW YEAR IS THE TIME TO UPGRADE YOUR GLASSES!) // LINED ACACIA TRAY (LOVE THE IDEA OF USING THIS FOR UNDERWEAR/SOCK ORG) // KINDLE // HABIT TRACKER // SCISSORS AND BOX OPENERS FOR EVERY DRAWER // SPY RUCK WEIGHTED VEST (I JUST LEVELED UP FROM 8 LB TO 12 LB BUT IT’S VERRRY HEAVY; I’LL NEED TO WORK ON THIS) // BEST RUNNING SHOES
P.S. What are your spark birds?
P.P.S. The things your children will miss.
P.P.P.S. Loungewear for the mysterious week between christmas and new years.
