A three-post Thursday! I had planned to publish this on the heels of this morning’s post on fall reading, but then I found myself also wanting to wedge in a fun little sale-shopping post, so I did all the things at once. Woohoo!
Anyway: one of the things that surprised me when I launched my “Bad Book Girl” hats earlier this year (I think we have like two left in stock) was that many of you reported buying them for your book club friends or wearing them to book club. It made me think about gifts for book club members and book lovers more generally, which is — probably — everyone reading this blog on a regular basis. I recently treated myself to a few bibliophile treats, including this embroidered book journal, this “Everyone Reads Romance” tee (yes! perfect sleep tee), and this “Only One Bed” keychain (lol) which, strangely, I’ve been using for my business mailbox at the USPS. It sparks joy every time I pick it up, like a little inside joke with myself.

I’m charmed by my analog book journal from Rifle Paper, seen above. I know we have GoodReads but there is something so delightfully out-of-keeping with the times about keeping a hand-written ledger. I’m actually finding this helpful for keeping tabs on the romances I tear through at night, because it’s fairly common for friends to ask for recs in this genre, and they tend to blend together. (Plus, Kindle Unlimited requires that you return titles once you’ve hit a max, and then you literally lose all record of the books you’ve read that way!).
My List of Gifts for Book Lovers.
While putting together this guide, I tried to cater to a few different gift recipient personas: practical readers who will appreciate a book light or ex libris plate, whimsical BookTok fans who will adore a tongue-in-cheek romance trope key chain, and the sentimentalists who will proudly display a framed Pride and Prejudice print on her bookshelf. Some of my favorite gifts from the list: these leather bookmarks; this library-scented candle (!); my favorite Chappywrap blankets; and this gorgeous Juniper Books Jane Austen set, which I would love to arrange prominently on my writing studio table.
A few other top picks to consider (I already own most of these items):

BOOK LOVER FLEX CUPS // BOOK LOVERS BOOKMARKS // BEACH READS AND BUBBLY BOOK LOVER TEE // BAD BOOK GIRL HAT // CUSTOM EX LIBRIS EMBOSSER // READING LOG / JOURNAL // BOOK LIGHT // RILEY SHEEHEY’S PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BOOK COVER PRINT // LITTLE WOMEN MUG // CUSTOM LEATHER BOOKMARK // STICKY TABS // ACRYLIC BOOK STAND // CHAPPYWRAP BLANKETS
Sharing more detailed notes on these items, and a couple of other great finds, below:
Book Club Favorites.
01. Frosted (reusable) “Book Lover” cups for your next book club! How cute?! The gals can take them home! Meanwhile, these book-print plates are perfect for snacks. You could bundle together as a gift for the book club hostess.
02. TBR jar. I thought this would be a clever way to pick the next month’s book club choice — everyone enters a proposed title and you draw from the TBR jar at the end of each meeting. Also think this might be a good way to get over the “what to read next” paralysis that sometimes haunts me.
03. If you are in a romance-specific book club (my sister belongs to one!), this site has such fun merch for romance readers. I love my “Everyone Reads Romance” tee, but these trope-specific hats would be fun to designate your preferences to the rest of your club!
04. Book club tee! I love the blunt simplicity of the lettering on this one, but I also found this cute motif if you want to have custom tees made with your book club’s name on it! (My sister’s book club name is Meet Cute! Isn’t that adorable?! Do you have a good one, too?)
Wearable Book Lover Gifts.
I shared a few wearable items in the section above for book club members, but some additional finds below —
05. Bad Book Girl Hat. I started making these hats sort of on a whim, after writing about being “a bad book girl,” the ethos of which is: “Give yourself permission to be a bad book girl, whether that means reading against the grain, reading lowbrow, reading on a Kindle, reading slowly, reading fast, repeat reading, reading things other people put down as “tripe” or “smut.” Whatever it is, go on with your bad book self.”
06. Monogrammed boat and tote. Imagine customizing this with a clever tag line on the side: her favorite romance trope OR a beloved character’s name on the side. I love the idea of putting “JO MARCH ENERGY” on mine…! My forever muse.
07. Olympia Le Tan Book Clutch. Olympia’s is a big investment; thankfully this Etsy store has lots of look-for-less options!
08. Beach Reads and Bubbly Tee — merch from one of my favorite book review personalities! I get all my romance recs from her.
09. NPYL Tote. Iconic.
10. Pride and Prejudice Tee. My neighbor gave me one of these for my birthday. I was so charmed!
Personalized / Elevated Book Accessories.
11. Gorgeous custom book embosser! I also love this style. And if you’d rather have a sticker version, these are cute!
12. Custom leather bookmarks. Love the idea of using something other than scraps and receipts — doesn’t my book deserve better?
13. This Etsy shop has some really cute bookmarks to give out to your book club ladies / fellow book lovers, too. Like if you’re into Throne of Glass or the Elsie Silver books?! How cute! I’m swooning. My girlfriend Marion also sells some customizable ones in her gorgeous paper shop.
14. Book cover prints illustrated by Riley Sheehey. So charming — omg. I bought the Little Women one and framed it in one of these. It now sits on my desk in my studio! I also love her Pride and Prejudice print.
Practical Reading Tools and Supplies.
15. Book log / journal. I love the idea of this and have just started using one myself, per my note above. Another chic option here.
16. Sticky tabs for note-taking/annotations. Love using these if I’m going to be discussing the book with someone else (book club!) so I can remember the bits that jump out at me.
17. Book Lovers Club bookmarks.
18. Clip-on book light!
19. Acrylic book stand for displaying special books.
20. A TBR notepad for keeping track of what’s up next in your queue / recent recs from friends.
Reading Experience Enhancers.
21. Chappywrap blankets — my favorite blankets for book reading sessions on the couch. Ultra-soft and a generous size.
22. Penguin Books mugs! Cute gift if you can find one that is one of your friend’s favorites! Bundle with great tea. I’m addicted to Harney’s peppermint herbal.
23. A candle that smells like the library?! I need this. Olfactory notes: “A luxurious leather-scented candle laced with vanilla, drawing inspiration from an old library with leather hardbacks and dusty floors.”
24. Audible gift suscription! I’ve actually been thinking of giving this to my MIL for awhile. I love to listen to audiobooks (some of my favorites here) and the idea of receiving access to a suite of them for a couple of months is so delicious.
Collectible + Display-Worthy Book Sets.
While curating the finds above, I kept coming across gorgeous special editions and collectible sets that I’d love to see on my own shelves, and decided to put them all in one place here. I have also been noticing a trend in more contemporary romance novels of books with painted edges — fun joy-sparker. For example, take a look at the Katherine Center book with its aqua-painted edges. A fabulous lagniappe if I’ve ever seen one!

JUNIPER BOOKS JANE AUSTEN SET // SIGNATURE GILDED EDITION OF PERSUASION AND SENSE AND SENSIBILITY // JUNIPER BOOKS LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE // LITERARY LOVERS TINY BOOK BOX SET // JUNIPER BOOKS LITTLE WOMEN, ETC // BOND & GRACE ART NOVEL: THE SECRET GARDEN // JUNIPER BOOKS OUTLANDER // JUNIPER BOOKS JUDY BLUME
P.S. Join my book club here! We pick one book to read each month and then gather in the comments section of my reviews, which come out around the 15th. I usually include mood boards, playlists, recipes, etc! Some of our recent reads and conversations here (<<this was probably my favorite book I’ve read this year), here, here.
P.P.S. If you could go back to school tomorrow, what would you study?
P.P.P.S. Details on my OWN book, coming out May 2026. (Pinch me!)

I can speak to that clip-on book light – it’s GREAT. A Christmas gift to me last year, and I use it every day, both for evening reading and for midnight jaunts around the house.
OK, sold. I need this too. I usually read my Kindle at night for this reason but have been loving my hard back versions lately so this has been annoying!
