Thin, layerable knits are a wardrobe staple for me, especially with the fuller skirt and pant silhouettes we’ve been favoring the past few seasons; I find I need a more fitted top to balance out the volume of a barrel jean or wide leg, and of course they are perfection beneath a tweed blazer or heavy coat! The La Ligne Ben Polo Sweater (on sale in select sizes here) is ideal for this kind of wear — featherweight, ultra-soft, and slightly slouchy. (I find this style runs a bit big, FYI.) Looks for less here and here. I’m especially loving that $49 Uniqlo one in the navy. I immediately imagine pairing with cords!

Meanwhile, Everlane’s Ultrasoft Merino Ribbed Polo adds subtle texture, and I am loving the thin knit options from J. Crew — especially this featherweight cashmere ribbed tee and this pointelle wonder (comes in the best colors). Finally, you can’t beat a basic cashmere crewneck that costs $100.
