Stunning Everyday Jewelry.

I wear the same jewelry nearly every day: pearl studs, a diamond station necklace from Tiffany Mr. Magpie gave me a few years ago (I have not taken this off for years except for during both of my c-sections, when I could not wear any metal), my wedding band and engagement ring (also never take these off), and, if I am going outside of the apartment, my watch and a bracelet engraved with Charlottesville, Virginia’s coordinates. (If I’m at home, I prefer nothing on my wrists and fingers besides wedding jewelry, as I find they snag, and I’m also constantly washing hands and cups and high chair trays and little bodies, so I don’t want my jewelry constantly submerged in water.) If I’m feeling like it, I’ll often also layer a ring I inherited from a great aunt with this personalized ring with my daughter’s birth date and initials engraved on it, my Hermes H-Clic bracelet (a gift from Mr. Magpie) and/or an Hermes leather wrap bracelet (a gift from my parents), OR a pearl bracelet my parents gave me for my 18th birthday.

I have been longing to add something new to my daily jewelry routine to celebrate Hill’s birth…or maybe my ten year wedding anniversary (in less than one month!)

A few recent beautiful finds that would make exceptional additions…

HEIRLOOM-WORTHY/MILESTONE-APPROPRIATE AURELIA DEMARK — A CUSTOMIZED BRACELET WITH YOUR CHILD OR TWO CHILDREN, OR A CLASSIC HEART

LETTER NECKLACE (THERE ARE SO MANY JEWELERS THAT DO VARIATIONS ON THIS STYLE…GET THE LOOK FOR LESS WITH THIS)

CUSTOMIZABLE CHARM NECKLACES (LOVE LOVE LOVE — CONTEMPLATING ONE WITH MY CHILDREN’S INITIALS, MY HUSBAND’S BASEBALL JERSEY NUMBER, THE “OUI” CHARM, AND MAYBE A SYMBOL OF SOME KIND…)

SMITTEN WITH THESE COIN NECKLACES FROM ALIGHIERI — WOULD BE PERFECT IF A LION OR PEGASUS BEARS PERSONAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SOME KIND (ALSO AVAIL IN A CUTE BRACELET)

SIMILAR TO ALIGHIERI — LOVE THESE LAYERED COIN NECKLACES FROM OMI WOODS

BEAUTIFUL CUSTOMIZED DISC BRACELET — LOVE THE SCRIPT THEY USE

PERSONALIZED STACKING RING — I HAVE ONE WITH EMORY’S BIRTH DATE IN ROMAN NUMERALS AND INITIALS THAT I STACK WITH A VINTAGE RING I INHERITED FROM A GREAT AUNT

ALSO ADORE THIS CHUNKIER ROMAN NUMERAL RING

I HAVE ONE OF THESE COORDINATES CUFFS WITH CHARLOTTESVILLE ON IT — WHERE MR. MAGPIE AND I FELL IN LOVE AND GOT ENGAGED (THE FULL STORY HERE)

DAINTY STACKING RINGS AT A GREAT PRICE (LOVE THE KNOT STYLE ESPECIALLY) — OR THROW THIS DELICATE HEART RING INTO THE MIX

PRETTIEST DIAMOND BOW RING — WOW

For fine jewelry storage, I have a large box from Pottery Barn, a Leontine Linens jewelry round (look for less with this), and a jewelry roll from Tiffany they sadly no longer make (similar here). If you are in the market for jewelry storage, I also adore this pretty jewelry box, this Tiffany classic, this canvas monogrammed style, and this personalizable jewelry “armoire.

I also keep a jewelry dish I keep in my bedside table for the pieces I wear day after day and this makes them easy to access — love the idea of giving one to a new bride-to-be! I love this vintage Herend heart dish or this Herend ring box or this funky valet tray.

For statement jewelry, I have found it much simpler and more compact to dispose of all boxes/packaging and instead place each item in a separate plastic baggie, all of which I store in decorative boxes like these. Takes up so much less space, the boxes can look pretty on a shelf/dresser, and pieces are so easy to find when in baggies! (Plus, no tangled necklaces.)

Finally, I have heard good things about this impeccably-reviewed $20 hanging/travel jewelry organizer, and people go crazy over these jewelry cleaning machines! I should be better about cleaning and polishing my jewelry; after I got engaged, I used to visit the jeweler once every few weeks to have them clean my ring! Ha! Nowadays, I use this inexpensive diamond dazzle stick every few weeks instead — a great little gift for a newly engaged friend, by the way.

P.S. I love letter to my daughter on her third birthday and a love letter to my son on his first.

P.P.S. What little bright spots are making your day?

P.P.P.S. Remember what it felt like to get your driver’s license?

  1. Love your post, so many good suggestions for jewelry ideas!!
I usually wear gold and minimalist jewelry for my everyday wear, love mix and matching different styles of rings. It’s always a treasure hunt when I want to find new jewelry designers or online shops, so thank you for sharing this post!
I just want to recommend a shop called INXSKY Minimalist Jewelry. I really like this shop, they have a lot of beautiful gold stackable rings that are not expensive at all and high quality.
Hope this helps people who are looking for minimalist jewelry 😉

  2. There’s something so timeless about delicate gold jewelry. I love the pieces by Vrai. I have their skinny stacking rings, which add a little something but don’t get in the way. I wear pearl studs almost every day but I love their classic gold hoops too.

I also have this diamond lariat necklace from Ariel Gordon. The stones are very small which make it appropriate for casual use too. It has this “barely there” feel which I love. But on the flip side the chain is SO delicate and I rarely wear it now around my little one who’s still learning “gentle hands”!

I also love the diamond station necklace (gift from my parents at my master’s graduation) — another classic!

I have been wanting to try these “wisp” earrings by WWAKE, which are more edgy (?) than my usual style but delicate enough. I love how it was styled on the site with the second piercing (though I don’t have a second):

Love that tip on the diamond cleaning stick!

    1. Oo I am really drawn to those wisp earrings, too, and that’s not even my style! They are crazy chic and unexpected. Love!

Love also the other pieces you linked here!

      xx

  3. I love all the jewelry you’ve linked to in this post and will be forwarding some links to my husband for ideas, haha. My daily wears are diamond huggies my husband gave me after the birth of our daughter, my engagement ring and wedding band, and a Cape Cod bracelet (my daughter also wears the latter every day – gotta start them early!).

Then, to change things up on a daily basis (at least on days when I leave the house), I’ll add various stacking rings or bracelets. I like to buy rings when I travel. They make for easy-to-transport home souvenirs and always bring me so much happiness when I wear them. Some of my favorite bracelets come from from Eden Hand Arts (where I also got the Cape Cod bracelet) – I like to get a new one every time I’m on the Cape.

But, I’ve been wanting something new for awhile now. My husband has hinted that I’ll be getting diamond studs for the birth of our son, but has left it open in case there’s something I want more. I love the idea of a charm bracelet but am not sure I’d actually wear it. The possibilities!! (Not bad ones to have.)

    1. Oo how exciting!! I hear you – the charm bracelet is so cute and would make for such a beautiful keepsake for your daughter some day, but feels impractical with little babies right now. (Just changing a diaper in a charm bracelet would be a trick…) Still, you could always get one now with the intention of enjoying it later and add to the bracelet over the years to come. Kind of special to think of following your life as a family of FOUR with it.

      xx

  4. I agree with Cynthia — love this post; so many good ideas! As a fellow June baby, I’m with you on pearl studs — I wear them so often, but I tend to switch them up with gold huggie hoops from Melissa Joy Manning or Kathleen Whitaker when my lobes need a break from studs.

My other daily jewelry includes a Maya Brenner initial necklace, a Lulu Frost code ring, a thin In God We Trust (RIP) gold band, and a triple-diamond ring — all in yellow gold. Yellow gold is my thing — everything I wear daily except my watch are YG.

I love the look of Aurelia Demark pieces, and the subtlety of your Charlottesville bracelet! Love that idea. Also, that Ginette ring — wow, I haven’t thought of that designer in years but they seemed so big when I first moved to NYC! Love that bow design.

Also wanted to mention that for anyone into Alighieri coin necklaces, MatchesFashion has an assortment of zodiac pieces by them. Also of note: MatchesFashion gives the option to ship in gorgeous marbled boxes that would be perfect for storing costume jewelry in the method you described!

    xx

    1. Oo clever thought on the Matches box!! They ARE gorgeous — keepsake worthy for sure. You brought up so many other great brands here, too! Thank you!

      xx

  5. LOVED this post!!! So many beautiful ideas. I have a pair of gold monogrammed drop earrings I’ve had since high school that I still wear every day! I had the monogram changed out when I got married and never change them except once in a blue moon. Friends tell me it is my signature piece!I
    I love your Charlottesville bracelet.
I started a charm bracelet when I got married ;symbolic of starting a new life together) and when we travel somewhere special I get a charm. Yes I have the traditional kids head with their names too! It’s my story in a bracelet! I love it.
    Be safe.

    1. Love the idea of the marriage/adventure charm bracelet — so cute, and it must make it so fun when you visit a new spot, trying to find a suitable charm. I love it 🙂 Also love the “signature piece” concept. My mom has a few pieces of jewelry that are so essential to her — I can hardly think of her without thinking of them. xx

  6. Do u have any recommendations on receiving blankets?
    Everyday use

Also any ideas for an Irish or shamrock blanket for photos of baby?
