Sale Snacks: Sephora Holiday Savings Event.

By: Jen Shoop

Sephora runs two savings events each year, and luckily for us, one is just in time for the transition to winter skincare and holiday shopping for loved ones. The promotion runs on a tiered membership schedule:

+If you are a VIB Rouge member, you can score 20% off from 10/30-11/9.

+If you are a VIB member, you can score 15% off from 11/3-11/9.

+If you are a Beauty Insider, you can score 10% off 11/5-11/9.

No matter your membership status, a little break on cosmetics is a blessed thing, as they go on sale much less frequently than other products do. You can use it as an excuse to finally test out a serum. I have been using serums for two or three years now and the three I have used have done a great job specifically of brightening my skin. I always say it’s like turning the lights on in the house — wow! I have tried variations at several price points and frankly have liked them all. Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum is the one that first got me hooked and I still love it — I will alternate between that, Vintner’s Daughter (not carried at Sephora), and this inexpensive bottle you can buy on Amazon. I think they all do a fantastic job, though the latter always feels a bit tacky to me when applying compared to the others, which glide into the skin.

I’ll be using the promotion to buy…

MY BELOVED MASCARA

SHISEIDO FACIAL COTTON (NEARLY 2,000 FIVE STAR REVIEWS DO NOT LIE — THIS STUFF IS LIGHTYEARS BETTER THAN THE ROUGH OR THIN PADS YOU FIND AT CVS)

MY FAVORITE WINTER FACIAL MOISTURIZER (SO HYDRATING) OR THIS DRUNK ELEPHANT FORMULA, WHICH MY SISTER HAS BEEN RAVING ABOUT…DECISIONS, DECISIONS!

MR. MAGPIE’S FACIAL CLEANSER AND DEODORANT (#BACKSTOCK — ALSO GOOD STOCKING STUFFERS)

ONE OF MY FAVORITE CANDLES EVER

I LOVE ALL THINGS RMS BEAUTY AND THIS “RADIANCE BASE CREAM” HAS BEEN ON MY LIST FOR AWHILE

If it’s gifts you’re after…

THIS ARTIS BRUSH SET IS ALREADY A GOOD VALUE, BUT WOULD BE UNDER $100 WITH CODE (THESE ARE JUST THE BEST APPLICATORS EVER)

LIP SLEEPING MASK (PERFECT TO WRAP UP IN CELLOPHANE WITH AN ENORMOUS BOW FOR A SMALL HOLIDAY TREAT)

CHANEL PERFUME (A CLASSIC — PERFECT ATTAINABLE LUXURY GIFT FOR A GAL IN HER LATE TEENS / EARLY 20S — A COLLEGE ROOMMATE OF MINE WORE THIS AND I WORE IT FOR YEARS AFTER)

Many of the items on my roundup of my favorite everyday beauty and skincare products can be found at Sephora, too. Can I specifically point you towards Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser? It is pricey so any discount I can score is cherished. I’ve used this religiously for years now — obsessed.

P.S. Target home organization finds.

P.P.S. In praise of a normal day. It is challenging to think of any aspect of 2020 being “normal” but we have, in a certain sense, hit a new normal in our own household and I would do well to acknowledge and celebrate that.

P.P.P.S. I won’t soon forget

  1. Your sister is right–the Drunk Elephant Protini is my holy grail moisturizer!

Also, you were 100% correct about the Westman Atelier foundation sticks. I bought one on your recommendation from the Credo sale and it arrived today. So amazing! Thank you.

    1. Veronica! I’m SO glad you’ve liked the Westman Atelier sticks! They are EXCELLENT. Tell me more about the Protini — I’m game to be sold on it 🙂 What do you like most about it?

      xx

    2. BLUF/TL;DR: I stopped using La Mer’s gel cream when I found this moisturizer.

Yay! I hope you try it. Some background: I have normal/sometimes combination skin. But I’ve used this in Hawaii and in the dead of winter in China (which is #%$@ing cold if you’re unsure what that means, ha) and it performs 100% of the time.

It’s lightweight. While it’s definitely a cream, it has a gel like quality (I imagine it is similar to the Belif?). It’s cooling and super hydrating. However, it tightens just ever so slightly, giving the perception that moisture is “locked” in. I also think my makeup goes on smoother afterwards.

If you do try it, please let me know what you think!

  2. I bought the Tata Harper’s cleanser after you posted about it for the Credo sale…. and let’s just say I have a budding obsession. Just today I thought about texting a few friends to rave about it, but then I remembered I’ve only been using it for a week so should perhaps wait at least a little while before I spread the word! Haha. Thanks for the rec 🙂

    1. YES! I am similarly evangelical about it. I love everything about it, from its texture to its smell to the way it makes my skin feel to the obvious results. SO glad you’ve had a similar experience with it!

      xx

  3. Oooh, thanks for the tip! I think this may be the winter I follow you onto the Belif moisturizer train. 🙂 I also did not realize (?!) that Sephora sold CANDLES … and they have so many of my personal favorite makers, like Maison Louis Marie and Overose! Love that. Will definitely be placing an order.

    xx

    1. Yes! I am confident you will love Belif. Such a good pricepoint, too. Yes to candles! So nice to get a little pricebreak on those. I only wish they carried Diptyque…

      xx

    2. I hear you! I rarely buy Diptyque for myself (maybe I should change that?!), but I love to give them as gifts … and ’tis the season for gift giving!

      xx
