  1. Hi Jen, I have two shopping related questions… (1) do you have recommended running sneakers (I remember reading about some recently and searched the blog endlessly but couldn’t find the post I recall reading) and (2) do you have a notebook recommendation for writing a brief blurb on the ornaments that my significant other and I gift each other each year? We gift an ornament with sentimental value attached to that year, and I am worried we will eventually forget which year each ornament was gifted and why. Even if we don’t, this notebook would be a great heirloom to pass on to any future children along with the ornaments so I’m willing to splurge on something special and custom, though a non-splurge option would be preferred. Thank you in advance and feel free to save these for a future shopping queries post! I read your blog year-round but the posts this time of year are something I look forward to (gift ideas, cookie recipes, inspiration for different traditions, etc.)!

    1. Yay! I’m so glad! For shoes — I have been a longtime wearer of Nike’s Infinity React shoes. They are really light but provide a lot more cushioning than you think:

However, I have my sights set on Saucony’s Endorphin Speed 3 shoes next. My Dad (a lifelong runner/marathoner) tried these and LOVED them and I am intrigued:

For the ornament notebook — how special?! Love this idea and tradition. I would go with the smallest Smythson “Wafer” notebook and have it embossed with initials or family name or year or some sort of abbreviation that matters to you!

      1. Thank you for these recommendations! Ordered the flyknit 3 to try out as I currently own the flyknit 2 you linked based on prior recommendations of it on the blog and want to try something different. The Saucony’s are the ones I remember reading about so I am very intrigued by those too if the flyknit 3 doesn’t work out. The Smythson notebook is exactly what I was looking for- will need to give some thought to what to emboss before ordering but very excited!
