Dashing this off quickly during a scarce moment of quiet because OMG, the deals (I guess not everything can be slow + good, HA):

ALWAYS STOCK UP ON HANKY PANKIES WHEN ON SALE

THIS SLINKY A+O, WHICH I’M CONSIDERING FILING AWAY FOR AN EVENT IN LATE FALL/EARLY WINTER

MY FAVORITE BRA EVER ($44!!!) — SORRY TO RUIN THE SURPRISE, BUT I’M ORDERING TWO FOR MYSELF AND ONE AS A GIFT FOR MY SISTER BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE TENDS TO BUY INEXPENSIVE BRAS AND I KNOW THIS WILL CHANGE HER LIFE*

JUST BOUGHT MYSELF THIS FANNY PACK, ON SALE FOR $60 — #MOMLIFE**

MY FAVORITE TONING PADS (GREAT VALUE)

CONTEMPLATING BUYING THIS CHANTECAILLE SET FOR MYSELF — I LOVE EVERYTHING THEY MAKE; THE ROSE DE MAI MIST IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES

ORDERED THIS BACKPACK AS A FUN ALTERNATIVE TO MY PRIZED M.Z. WALLACE ONE BECAUSE…$30!

*SORRY THE ALL-CAPS MAKES IT LOOK LIKE I’M SHOUTING. I KIND OF AM.

**Also, one time, a sketchball tried to steal my wallet from my diaper bag while I was watching mini on the swing. Ever since, I’ve kept my key, phone, and wallet on my person — this fanny pack will be so helpful (instead of tossing half of my stuff in a backpack / holding onto it).

P.S. The best of everything: home edition.

P.P.S. Still adjusting to life as a mother to two

P.P.P.S. What makes a book “good”?

  1. Love your blog!
If you do another Magpie Mail – I was wondering if you have any “strategies” for re-wearing pieces or getting rid of old clothes? I love statement dresses but even after I wear an amazing piece once, if I’m in photos wearing it (or even if not) I always feel like I don’t want to wear it again. Even if I wore a dress twice to 2 different weddings, after that I always want something new for the next event. Seems like a waste to me to buy a $200+ dress to wear twice so I often end up renting from Rent the Runway. Or, if I bought the dress it ends up hanging in my closet for literally years… I always wonder what other people do about this situation haha.

    1. Hi Elisse! Really good question. I am pretty strategic about buying pieces I think/know will work for multiple events in a summer (with different guest lists) and will unabashedly wear dresses multiple years in a row, too. I also tend to create excuses to dress up, i.e., for my birthday, I WILL wear a long dress to dinner JUST BECAUSE. Who cares if I’m over-dressed? Sometimes my sister and I get dressed up just for ourselves, i.e., have a dinner party and wear cocktail dresses. I also try to be creative about dressing some of my dressier pieces down — i.e., could it work if I wear it with flat sandals and a straw bag?! Etc. But there are always times where I look angrily at a dress I dropped several hundred dollars on but have only worn two or three times. I do try to re-sell these on eBay or take to a consignment shop in the hopes that someone else will get some enjoyment out of it. Another option: if you have girlfriends who wear a similar size, you could do a swap party?!

      No easy solution…

      xxx

    2. In reply to your reply- Thanks for the tips!! I think I’ll try over-dressing “just because.” There’s so many instances I could probably wear a dress but choose not to, but now I will!
