I am trying to exercise serious restraint when it comes to minimagpie’s wardrobe, but…it’s a whole new world for me and there are so many absolutely gorgeous pieces ripe for the picking. A friend of mine was asking how I planned to “style” minimagpie — and it occurred to me that I’ve been gravitating towards three different vibes for her, which I’ll label in shorthand as DixieBaby (aka, mini Southern belle), Eurobaby (exquisite European royalty child), and Hipstababy (aka, funky, hip prints — think Penelope Disick or Eva Chen’s daughter). Over the next few weeks, I’ll share pieces that fit within each aesthetic, and today, I’ll start with the DixieBaby look. After all, I went to school in the South (Wahoowa!), my husband’s a Virginny boy (the Old Dominion state!), and my hometown of D.C. falls in a North-South no-man’s-land where it’s not uncommon to find Southern influences here and there.
With a Southern Baby, it’s all about smocking, monograms, bubbles, bonnets, and seersucker. (P.S. — The pillow below is from my fav source for monogrammed linens, SouthernLinen. Exact pillow found here.)
I should mention that there are a few discount codes sprinkled throughout this post, and a GIVEAWAY at the bottom! WEEEEEE!
A few great pieces from some amazing stores:
+Beaufort Bonnet Company has insanely precious pieces, like this sweet bubble ($63).
+Classic Salt Water sandals ($31). I’ve given these as gifts to a few new babes (usually along with a cute swimsuit — have you seen these Marysia suits or these Zimmermanns for minis?! WOWOWOW.). They’re made for in-and-out-of-water-wear, so perfect for the beach.
+The ribbons on this monogrammable BellaBliss two-piece set ($66) are too sweet.
+The absolute sweetest rainboots from H+M baby, of all places! ($18). I also still cannot get over these duck ones.
+Scalloped seersucker dress ($38) from one of my favorite baby vendors, TheBellaBean.
+Sweet little embroidered hat ($20). But P.S. — you can also customize your own mini hat via Hats By Olivia ($40). How precious? Maybe mini needs one with #minimagpie on the top?!
+Proper Peony tulip dress (on sale for $43), shown above (already in #minimagpie’s wardrobe). So precious.
+Sweet N Swag mocs ($20). P.S.: SPECIAL announcement about these pretty shoes at the bottom of the post!!!
+This sweet cat sunsuit ($60) is everything. I had to have this when I saw it. Check out the entire stunning collection from Pixie Lily…I DIE. AND, the kind owners of the boutique are offering you lovely readers 15% off plus free shipping with code MAGPIE15, valid through midnight PST tonight!
+In a similar vein — how absolutely precious is this monogrammed bubble ($45) from Sadie’s Stitchery?! I’m smitten with all of the stunning, heirloom-worthy monogramming options she has available.
+Perhaps more seasonally appropriate — this sweet monogrammed jacket ($80) from The Monogram Studio. Such a lovely gift, and I can speak to this personally because the incredibly kind owner of the store, Dancia, sent me one for #minimagpie (see it here)! So adorable in-person, and the highest quality.
+I can’t decide which color I prefer for this sweet little eyelet dress ($39, but currently 40% off!)
+These convertible sleep sacks from Pixie Lily ($58) are, according to my mom, genius for middle-of-the-night changes.
+For a slightly older child, how adorable are these gingham jams from the Petite Plume ($58)?!
+Um, these bunny slippers ($24 — also available via Amazon for you Prime users here) from YikesTwins are everything. (Yikes Twins also makes fanciful hooded towels.) I connected with the owner of YikesTwins and she mentioned that her slippers were featured in Oprah’s favorite things last November! #Trending. She also VERY generously offered all you Magpies 20% off your purchase from her store with code fashionMP from now through March 1. WOOT WOOT!!! (Thanks, sweet Wendy!)
+Stunning crib sheets from De Buci Baby ($58). Absolutely STUNNING.
+Also die over their sleep sacks ($95) and toile teddy bears ($55). Kinda coordinates with these cozy toile Gap jams for moms ($35 for top, $26 for bottoms) — I own the red flannel variation, as shown here. I should also mention that many of you have recommended these Halo sleepsacks ($24) as a lifesaver for the early days.
+Love the sweet prints on these washcloths from Little Unicorn ($16 for 3) — get coordinating bibs here.
+The heart on the butt kills me ($23). I purchased a few pieces from this brand, Sapling, and love the prints!
+A ladylike bonnet ($68). I ordered one of these for mini’s Easter outfit (can you tell I’m anxious for her to be here?!)
+This ruffled one-piece from Janie + Jack is beyond (love that butt) — $42.
+The sweetest printed dress I ever did see ($95) from BabyCZ. Check out the rest of their collection. Absolutely swoon-worthy.
+Not clothing, but I actually cannot get over this sweater/knit-upholstered infant carseat ($289) by Maxi Cosi. Not only is this brand well-reviewed for safety, just look at the style! Probably too hot for a true Southern baby, but for a Chicago mini channeling a Southern vibe?! YAAS.
+The sweet expression on this pillow ($39) made me do a double take. I’m not usually into pillows with expressions on them, but, such a lovely sentiment.
+Love this wicker elephant hamper (on sale for $55).
Finally, these monogrammed heirloom-worthy bloomers ($20 apiece) from Etsy store Southern Baby (how appropriately named!) are insane. Just look at the detailing! Also love their embroidered bows. AND GET THIS: the sweet owner (and mother of FIVE (!!!!) children!) is offering you Magpies free shipping on all purchases with code THEFASHIONMAGPIE.
OK, so LONG POST — hoping you got some fab inspiration with these stunning pieces (I want all.the.things), BUT if you’ve read all the way to the end: SURPRISE!!! A little giveaway! I am giving away the pair of adorable gold and white Sweet N Swag moccasins shown below in my nursery in a size 1 (2-8 months). After I featured them in a list of 10 chic baby discoveries, they generously sent me two additional pairs and I want to pass one pair along! Yay!! Congrats, Christie! Thanks for this sweet note. Hoping you are feeling well. Xxx
I’m not expecting but hope to be in the not too distant future and have been loving these posts! Keep ’em coming. Would love to tuck these mocs away for the future or gift them to a friend who’s expecting her mini this May! Definitely will be snagging ideas from this post for her upcoming shower.
Love it, Sarah!! Xx
I’ve loved all your baby posts, and the moccasins are one of my favorite items you’ve shared! So precious!
Thanks Ana!! Xxx
I am due this summer and have loved your minimagpie posts. Ordered the Janie and Jack ruffled one piece – so adorable.
Thanks for reading, Kate! Congrats on your upcoming arrival. LOVE that ruffled romper/bubble piece of goodness! xxx
These are all so adorable! I’ve been following you for baby-related inspiration since I’m due mid-April – nearly everything you’ve featured is right up my alley. I purchased the pink eyelet dress from Baby Gap a couple of weeks ago ($20 in store + extra 10% off!) and it is beyond cute. Off to order some monogrammed burp cloths now…
I love it! A fellow monogramaholic! Thanks for following along, and good to know the dress is as cute in person as it is online! xx
WOW this post was so packed with amazing baby things!! I have one of my best friend’s shower coming up, so I am definitely using this as a guide. I am definitely purchasing that pillow from Nordstrom, and need to figure out what else I am going to get (without spending all my money lol baby stuff is just too cute)!! Beautiful picks, thank you again for sharing 🙂
YAY!! Glad you liked it. This post was SO fun to put together, and I had about 15 other items I wanted to include, but it was getting super long and unwieldy 🙂 xxx
