I love this idea that we are always confessing who we are,
that we are forever reciting our vows and virtues, even when no one is listening.
We are in a constant state of self-revelation,
sending out tiny messages in tiny bottles
just by waking up and looking out the window in our specific ways,
just by moving our feet to the warm floor and humming that tune we can’t get out of our heads in the morning light.
How beautiful, really, to think that just by being, we are sharing,
that our souls were fashioned for companionship,
one half of an equation, one end of the tin can string.
Think about it: the book left open on the couch,
the mug of cold peppermint tea left on the table,
the curios and threadbare titles lining your shelves,
the “don’t forget the peaches” in your tidy all-caps on the yellow steno pad by the door with the sticking lock that must be handled just-so:
these and every other clue in the wall hangings and table stains and laundry bin:
everything you touch is confession.
We are always giving ourselves away.

Shopping Break.
+New chic pull-on patterned shorts from Julia Amory. I’d pair with a simple tee or tank or button-down and a leather sandal. (Another really cute pair of summer pull-on shorts: these striped Farm Rios! And under $100: these! OMG, the embroidered detail!)
+On my shopping wishlist for June: this navy trim skirt.
+My current slouchy, borrowed-from-the-boys sweatshirt obsession. Love the over-dyed look — feels like it’s something you’ve had for years and years and the fit is perfect over bike shorts. (Also love this washed nantucket red version.)
+A seemingly good look for less for our beloved “cool mom” shorts.
+La Ligne can take all my money. You know my thoughts on chartreuse…
+Swooning (!!!) over this new arrival at Gwyn (Goop’s house label). Their clothes are so thoughtfully tailored and chic. You can use SHOOP15 for 15% off any Gwyn or GoopBeauty purchase. They also have a good sale going: over 50% off this cashmere striped knit (my code brings it down to $200), this suede Liffner tote, this crisp white shirtdress, this Cadence travel cosmetics set, and select colors of the Westman Foundation drops!
+Total summer skin essential — they remove every last trace of sunscreen, sweat, makeup, etc! I never travel without these but I find myself reaching for them a lot more at home during the summer months, when I feel like I need a deep scrub at the end of every day. These have a slight abrasiveness to them (in the best way possible) — I think it’s the witch hazel in it. I am always giving my SIL beauty products that brands send to me and this is the one brand she always asks me to get for her because it has clean, legible ingredients — these wipes have willow bark, aloe, witch hazel. She also really likes their cleanser and mountain glow serum. But I can’t rec the wipes more personally! Would also be good to toss in a gym / tennis / sport bag.
+How CHIC are these paisley statement pants (available in a petite inseam)?!
+A great wear-with-everything wedge that’s currently on sale for under $120. Also available in raffia (selling fast).
+If you’re a sun visor girlie: this is really chic.
