My mother-in-law and I went down a rabbit hole with the furniture brand Oomph home. We are both in love with everything they do, including the very expensive but spectacular bedside table seen above. Wow! What a statement. Currently in the market for all kinds of furniture and really appreciate this post. Leaning towards #s 3 or 9, though I’m usually partial to nightstands with drawers only and no shelves for myself. Drawers are great for storing away clutter, while shelves require more decorative purchases- but I love the look of shelves! We shall see! Very challenging to balance aesthetics, budget, functionality, and health when decorating a space. I have found it surprisingly stressful in my 1-bedroom and reached out a decorator yesterday- I am in awe if you are tackling your new home without one!
Hi!! I love #3 and #9. So elegant and functional at the same time. Agree with you on drawers, too. My current bedside tables have a drawer on top and then a cabinet door that opens on the bottom (they are mirrored) and I love the extra storage and the fact that they require zero styling or dusting — though the mirrored top DOES require a lot of Windexing. Oh well.
Don’t be too impressed — I don’t know I will be able to manage outfitting my house on my own either. I’m especially skittish about paint colors — I do not trust myself on that front! These are colors that change according to the color of the wood, the amount of light you have, the time of day, the floor coverings, etc! And sophisticated designers do things like “dilute to 25% with xyz”…WHAT?! I have no idea. I have been talking with an interior designer to assist in paint/wall covering selection and I also have other areas I feel totally out of my element in, like wall-to-wall carpeting / runner carpeting on the stairs. How?! I have no clue. I also don’t know I trust myself with window treatments? I have this feeling I will order the wrong length or mount them improperly without guidance. Anyway. I do thoroughly enjoy interior design and love finding fun new pieces, decor, art, furniture, but I am also cognizant of my own shortcomings and also anxious about the scope of the project ahead.
