Burgundy is a color that does all the work—substantial, moody, broody, rich. The Heathcliff of fall colors if you will. (Ha!) I love the way it elevates jeans, softens black, and beautifully complements camel, cream, and navy blue. Just one pop of burgundy (like a ribbed sweater or structured coat) makes an outfit feel thoughtful and refined without trying too hard. One of my absolute favorites is the Clarke Cardigan by Doen. I actually own this in the ivory and find it is one of my favorite sweaters of the season — has a nice cozy hug to it, not too oversized, and I love the slim tailoring at the wrists. Another burgundy standout worth mentioning: this satin slip skirt from Tuckernuck, which many of you have purchased. I love the idea of styling with a tone-on-tone (matching) burgundy sweater, but it would also look fabulous with gray, navy, or cream, or layered beneath a brown plaid blazer.
