Velveteen Rabbit.

I have never been a big fan of velvet — I wore too much of it as a child of the 80s.  Think of crushed velvet party dresses with frilly white party socks and black patent mary janes.  And yet.  I saw this Cushnie + Ochs stunner in this unusual teal hue ($1595) and have not been able to banish its image from my mind since.  I instantly imagined it with glam sparkling earrings (on sale for $174):

I’d pair it with patterned pumps — these TBs caught my eye ($275) — and a silver clutch (Clare Vivier, $205):

Now, talk about a party dress: this Alice + Olivia wonder is not for the faint of heart (or the wallflower).  It’s borderline punk chic, actually.  And the velvet waistband makes it.  I’d wear it with these shoulder-grazing drops ($220):

Class it up with these Valentino d’orsays ($1,095) and this fab clutch (House of Harlow, $195):

Lastly, this velvet shift dress ($210) could be oh-so-chic, especially with this statement-making Matthew Williamson necklace ($800):

Especially when finished with serious statement pumps, like these Choos ($750), and this bananas amazing clutch (Rada, $528):

Lastly, I am absolutely smitten with this sexy velvet cut-out dress from Anthropologie.
