I love a dash of the whimsical in interior design. One of my favorite interior designers, Bailey Quin McCarthy, nails it: she is SO good at blending the old with the new, the classic — even stodgy — with the fresh and funky.
It’s too, too good. A few of my favorite pieces to channel your inner Bailey:
+Fringe cushion ($138);
+Balloon animal figural (Jeff Koons, wut wut! — $34);
+Leaf-print pouf (lovethis,omg — $85);
+Llama tea towels (set of 2, $20);
+Mexico ($30) and Peru ($30) cookbooks — such pretty tabletop decor;
+This framed otomi print ($3,300) from St. Frank is ERRRRYTHING. Check out the entire St. Frank collection, because OMG (this and this?!). They just opened a brick-and-mortar store in San Francisco — get thee there. Also, the incredible founder is a fellow Wahoo.
+This needlepoint pillow ($68) is bomb.
+Can we talk for a minute about the amazing-ness of this upholstered side table ($650)?! Oh, Etsy. You just don’t disappoint. The store carries other patterns/shapes, too — like this rad one in the famous les touches print.
+Vintage ceramic zebra vases ($136)? Count me in. I might use these as book-ends, or just decor on a bookshelf.
+Vintage numbers/letters ($22 each) are a cool way to break up a gallery wall;
+I’ve seen a lot of chic peas proudly featuring this zebra-bound book ($70) in their shelfies — there are lots of vintage copies available on Etsy;
+The Scalamandre Le Tigre fabric is to die. Wrap it around a bolster pillow ($300) to liven up any old chair.
+The COOLEST wallpaper from Lindsay Cowles.
+Can’t go wrong with some neon-tinged foo dogs ($72).
