The silk scarf has long be touted a staple of the elegant woman’s wardrobe. But I could never quite figure out how to wear one without looking a little bit like a librarian or goody-two-shoes or something. These ladies gave me some new ideas on how to make the silk scarf look fresh and modern:
Beyond that, Dolce and Gabbana had some incredible (!!!) head scarfs in the latest runway collection and it made me MEGA excited for trying a scarf headband situation at the beach this summer.
Now, Hermes is the name of the game when it comes to the silk scarf. A few of my top picks from the current collection: this dragonfly print, this splatter print, and this classic chain print ($300-$395).
RealReal has some great (gently-used) finds, like this Emilio Pucci ($95) and this Hermes ($245). And you can also find some good vintage patterns/styles by trolling Etsy — like this beautiful one.
I like the idea of this block print/branded Balenciaga ($286) in striking racer orange for summer. I’m imagining wearing it around my head with a dramatic black Marysia one-piece and a stark white manicure. BOOM. In a similar colorway, check out this affordable find from Loft for only $34!
The colors and floral print of this St. Piece silk lovely ($225) are SO my mom. Elegant, traditional, cheery.
Love the punchy fuchsia color of this Kate Spade rose print style ($168) — I’m imagining pairing it with a denim button-down, skinny jeans, and simple neutral flats.
As evidenced by the two pics above, Dolce + Gabbana nailed the silk scarf prints this season. Get the original here ($445).
This Sandro style ($160) is uber fresh and cheery. I’m again drawn to pairing it with denim or an all-white ensemble. Orange for the win!
Love the graphic black/white contrast and funky tiny palm print of this Ann Taylor steal ($59).
Go All-American with this Ralph Lauren silk style in navy or red ($40). This is the type you might tie around your neck ala the chic lady in all denim above.
These polka dotted scarves in great colors from Valentino are a ridiculous steal — on sale for $99 right now!
Get the look on the cheap with these square scarves in fresh spring colors from Urban Outfitters ($14 apiece!) I like the last one (lavender + orange).
Fun lipstick print scarf from Equipment (designed by Garance Dore!) on sale for $58! See how she recommends styling it (in sketch form!) below:
