You know it’s fall when you can’t leave Trader Joe’s without something pumpkin flavored that you never knew you needed. Case in point: ran into TJs to get my fav soy milk and left with “petite pumpkin spice cookies: shortbread cookies with pumpkin spice and yogurt coating.” It’s been getting cozy and autumnal here. Even though I’m not a big sports person (hehe, understatement of the century; Mr. Magpie recently seemed genuinely impressed when I used the term “end zone,” saying: “Wow, I can’t believe you knew that word, and that you used it correctly!”), I have to admit that I loved Sunday: Mr. Magpie watching the games on RedZone (“seven hours of uninterrupted football” — yikes) while I braised some short ribs in the oven and read/shopped online/snuck out for a manicure. Below, a coupla must-haves for this fall saison — ya know, in addition to your PSLs and whatnot. (I hate PSLs for the record.)
Isabel Marant’s Charley sweater (shown below in first snap) has been a streetstyle darling and, as far as I can tell, is sold out errywhere. But no worries — main street fashion has been helping us get the look for less. (And I for one do not think I could stomach a $765 sweater. Shoes, yes. Bag, definitely. Statement dress, possibly. Sweater…no.)
Get the look for less with this Banana steal (on sale for $68) or this H+M find ($59).
Other options: this J. Crew collection style ($198, but 25% off right now), this $75 Lioness score, this cream sweater by JOA (also $75), or this oversized style ($71).
Speaking of lace-ups, super cool French line Maje has this adorable striped lace-up tunic on sale for $235 RN.
So comfortable, so chic. I’d wear them with my Chanel espadrilles in these transitional days. Other, options: this $91 steal, this St. Roche style ($202), this textured one from JOA (on sale for $56! — LOVE those frayed edges!), or — for those preferring a little waist definition — this $131 style from Capulet. Or — finally — this $128 Madewell find.
I was totally taken by this look the fashionista behind StyleMBA posted on Instagram. I absolutely love the covered buttons on the stark white Frame blouse ($265) she’s wearing below. Plus, we all know Gucci is having a moment, so the belt ($420) is majorly au courant.
This chic pea appears to be very Chanel. And I want her look NOW. But her skirt is actually this $52 ASOS steal, and lots of shops have these elegant bow-front blouses right now, including J.Crew (on sale for $79) and Banana ($78).
Are you FUR REALLLLL???? JK. But I do love this chunky faux fur topper on blogger Aimee of Song of Style.
This chunky topper from Banana Republic ($248, also available in solid black) struck my eye as a cute way to channel the look.
I kind of love these two bubblegum pink oversized sweater looks from London Fashion Week:
Quel drama!!! Recreate with this $59 sweater. I like the idea of layering it over a crisp white or oxford striped button down.
Are y’all sensing a trend yet? #sweaterweather #sweaterweather #sweaterweather. While we’re in the sweater zone, consider these cool chunky mock neck / turtleneck styles:
I flipped when I saw these sweaters by Chaus for only $69 a pop. So high fashion, so right now. I need it in the white and red at a minimum, thankyoukkkkbyeeee.
Finally, as you know, lace-up flats have been raging on the street scene for some time. These Nine West lace-ups in denim and black are $89!!!! I LOVE.
