I have always loved the color pink. In college, my brother and one of his best friends drove down to visit and I put them to work painting my room a bubblegum pink color. (They joked that they would stencil a Ralph Lauren polo horse in the bottom left hand corner of my bedroom. Let’s just say I was going through a hyper preppy phase, with popped collars, madras, and oxford mainstays in my day-to-day wardrobe.) I cringe a little bit remembering that I lived in a Barbie-pink room for a full year, but at least I had a point of view.
I have ventured away from pink since marrying Mr. Magpie, developing a new appreciation for grays and orangey-reds in particular. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still gravitate towards pink — especially when coupled with gold — and, if I had my druthers, I’d probably have more pink in the house.
