New Fall Makeup.

By: Jen Shoop

I love playing around with new makeup, and I just picked up a few things to test:

FINDING FERDINAND LIP LINER // FINDING FERDINAND DELICIOUS BALM // GEE EYE SHADOW PALETTE // CHARLOTTE TILBURY CONTOUR WAND // CIELE BLUSH // WESTMAN ATELIER MASCARA // SACHEU LIP LINER STAIN // HUDA SETTING POWDER // COSMETICS CASE

01. HUDA Loose Powder — This is all over TikTok; the beauty influencers call it “baking” and apply a healthy amount to undereye area, then let it sit for 3-5 minutes, and dust off the excess. I don’t know if I am applying it as they do, but I am SO impressed with how this powder blurs and sets undereye makeup, and also doesn’t look super powdery. I’ve been on the hunt for a really good translucent undereye powder that doesn’t look cakey, and this really fits the bill. I got the color cupcake and apply with one of these.

02. Charlotte Tilbury Contour Stick — Another BeautyTok influenced purchase. I am not a contouring person/wizard but I do like to apply a dark/bronze color beneath my cheekbones, on the tip of my nose, and across the top of my forehead and then blend — I feel like it really does make my features pop. I am getting used to this more liquid formula. Before, I was using this blush/contour stick combo in the Starlit color, and I really liked that, because you swipe the bronzer and then flip and swipe the blush right above the strip of bronzer and then blend both together right on your face. I’m not sure how to apply the Tilbury properly — in learning mode!

03. I saw this eye shadow palette and ordered it immediately — it’s all my favorite colors, and honestly the only colors I ever use on my eyes. I like to do a fairly neutral eye with maybe a little brown in the crease when I’m being fancy. I’ve been using this Makeup by Mario palette since January and I basically only use like five squares of color (top left quadrant) but I’m nearly done with all of those colors! I will say I love the Makeup by Mario formula. This was a Magpie reader rec. It goes on with this velvety, stay-put formula — not super powdery, doesn’t get all over your undereye. But I’d heard good things about Gee and wanted to try!

04. I’ve been in a committed relationship with this mascara since the beginning of the year. I really like an inky, black lash, and this delivers. My other go-to is Tower28, but I did pick up this mascara (also by Gee) as well as Sarah Creal’s version. I implicitly trust Sarah Creal. Have you tried her concealer yet?! I’m addicted. I think I discovered this late last year and haven’t looked back — I’m on my third tube. It’s the perfect consistency, never gets caked into fine lines, brightens and corrects but isn’t too heavy. Absolute perfection – they nailed that product.

05. I’ve been loving this “witchy lip” product from Finding Ferdinand this fall. It glides on like a dream and builds layerable color. I also just picked up their matching liners. I’ve become such a believer in lip liners in the past year or two. Makes such a big difference. Use code JEN10 at Finding Ferdinand!

06. While we’re talking lip liners, OMG – I mentioned this on Sunday, but have you tried these “lip liner stains”? I’m obsessed. I don’t wear daily but if I have an event or am going out for the day, these really define your lips and stay for hours and hours. I have the P-INKED (03) color.

07. I thought these colors from new-to-me beauty label Ciele were so spectacular and ordered two to try. Such sexy packaging, too!

08. Fun cosmetics case above, though I usually use the smallest pouch that comes in this Julia Amory trio to carry around beauty products while I’m on the go! (Use code JEN-15 for 15% off at Julia Amory!)

P.S. Gentle packing lists in motherhood.

P.P.S. Fall tsundoku pile.

P.P.P.S. What are your treasured seasonal rituals?
